Terribly sad, but also quite entertaining. Thanks for adding to the ever too little collection of Shiho/Shinichi fanfiction.

:-D Yeay, I've finally finished reading this! It's a kinder ending than i thought it would be. Shinichi finds his new path at last. Heart.

It was great! But i wish there was more dialogue then the story line.

Hmmmmm, where to start.

I fortunately encountered your fanfic when it was on status "complete" (too many promising stories end up halfway (finished)... ).

Up until this chap I've read most of it, due to time constraints I leafed through the rest a bit (usually, I don't do that, only if the story is promising, so, this is meant as a compliment).

I noticed a few similarities with someone elses story setup (the regular post antidote migranes, the painkillers used), when checking your profile, the answere might be in another story of someone (you know each other?).

Alright, back to this story. Though English isn't your native tongue, its very well written.
I like it up till now - the story keeps one to keep reading on and on. Wanting to know the next chapter (alright, I cheated a bit).
The characters are - in my opinion - as adults not even much out of character. Kudo being dense, Shiho still being cynic and smart. Its something different in putting Kudo into something he doesn't know his way out sort of - I mean, the big flaw of Gosho (in my opinion) is that Kudo is unrivalled (only by Shiho possibly) brilliant, but that any emotions are mainly lacking (alright, the occasional jealousy act, when Ran runs into some guy). It's not like he's appears as a very sensitive/ feeling guy.

So, this story feels a bit like a relief - the "less than perfect Kudo".

On the other hand, I was a bit sad - I am hoping that Shiho truly finds someone who suits her. And - (anyone is allowed to disagree) - in terms of genius, she puts up a good match with/ for Kudo. Pulling his leg, twisting him a bit, messing up his mind! I like it a lot in the series, just doesn't happen very often.
So, a Shin x Shiho match up would be fine by me. A bit of happyness for both. If Kudo would ever have the brilliance to find out. ... (at least not a pedophile relationship which was hinted at recently with Ai and Mitsuhiko - really, what are they thinking, at the drawing board).

So, if you ever intend to write another DC story... ;-)

Anyway, I will continue reading and hope you keep on writing/ posting.

Your profile sounds pretty busy to me - all those interests besides your studies. Keep up the Sience - its pretty fun at times!

What the! what is that?... I can feel all the emotions in that chapter and when i read at the last part. About shinichi calling ran. And at the next the end. I was like. All my emotions shattered. This need a sequel.

Oh my, this is definitely something different! Loving the snappy pacing, the strangeness of Shinichi's behaviour and attitude, the more relaxed and musical Shiho... Poor Ran in all this. Despite the idiosyncracies (which I can relate to - I have that problem sometimes with my bilingual fics) it is a very rich and enjoyable prose, that let's us sink into a poor deluded Shinichi's world.

I meant APAH with "the cure" in my latest review.

I think I need to save Shinichi from being the anti-hero of this fic by stating my opinion that the tragedy of the whole story wasn't the fact that Shinichi was selfish or didn't love her but that he listened to Shiho's theory. He believed there was no cure. And like a self-fulfilling prophecy, there was no cure for him. He is the tragic hero of the story, whose life has been ruined by science and the imagination that there is no cure because things are supposed to be that way. I really pitied him despite his disgraceful behaviour throughout the whole story because he behaves like normal humans would, missing his chance at happiness twice by clinging to his belief (when he tried to stay with Ran for fear of hurting her and when he believed there was no cure against APAH) and losing against the destructive force of time.

A semi happy ending for both Shiho and Shinichi. I could not ask for more. It seems that the stranger loved Shiho than Shinichi did, so they deserved for each other. Keep up great work :)

Oh, now that I read it for a second time, I realize that you made the ending pretty final.

1) You said she trusted Shinichi enough to invite him again and that he thinks he has learnt his lesson.
2) You said Shinichi didn't put up a fight when her boyfriend and she left, and that he thinks he can't replace the man she loves, as she wasn't happy with him despite their awesome nights etc.
3) He called Ran before he left for Venice, deciding that he will return to her in the end.
4) Shiho did prove that she could resist him when she left with her bf to return to Venice while he was there. Despite their awesome chemistry (sob)

Now we only have the cure which could change things if it's extremely powerful so that both Shinichi and Shiho succumb to it again. But as it looks, only Shinichi might succumb to it. Making it quite tragic if it continues and Shiho loses all her respect for him.

So, you lost the challenge because it wasn't an open ending. XD

Lol, OK, since both Shiho and Shinichi are still suffering from APAH, there we have the eternal destructive foursome until Shiho's long-suffering husband finally gets the idea to replace her blood as well (I wonder why Shinichi, as brilliant as he is, didn't think of this or whether he only didn't want to do it).

I must admit I found this inappropriately funny. Not at all the cautionary tale it was supposed to be. I also pity Shinichi and Shiho for endangering their loves by succumbing to a drug without the wish to free themselves from it because it's way too pleasant.

All in all, it was a very appropriate ending for the story though I guess most readers won't notice that the ending implies that Shinichi and Shiho will stumble into an affair again. XD

I love this. I always like to see another an angst side to the characters
