Reviews for my heart lies buried like something dead
dragonpearlz chapter 6 . 9/12/2017
I've had this favorited for so long, but never read it all the way through. It was everything that a epic story should be. Slow to build, methodical, believable. I rather like it.
actrivi chapter 6 . 4/11/2017
This story was so thorough, honest, and sweet. I loved every second of it. Thank you for writing!

OH this makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Kudos to you for writing this, it's so good and warm and fuzzy and gahhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
I also liked how you incorporated different books into your story. That was pretty cool. :)
Mizamour chapter 6 . 8/24/2016
Oh this was wonderful beyond all imagining! And every quote suited so well... Beautiful!
Mizamour chapter 5 . 8/24/2016
I just... I LOVE how you make everything with the gardening and plants so symbolic, the difference between weeds and plants, javert at first not being able to tell the difference at all and then fumblingly starting to discern by feeling, only to find that that's not always reliable, then taking valjean as a guide and realizing weeds can be valuable too - beautiful. This is my favorite Valjean fic in the world.
Mizamour chapter 1 . 8/24/2016
This is so *good*! I adore it - such wonderful writing and beautiful, vibrantly illustrated characterization and moments between characters. Wow!
LittleLongHairedOutlaw chapter 6 . 8/8/2016
Words are inadequate to convey how much I love this fic and how many feelings it gives me. Talk about slow burn! But I love it so much
Doughnutwithsprinkels chapter 6 . 1/15/2015
You write so beautifully, it's a joy to read your work! You've made a wonderful ending in my opinion. This was truly a wonderful piece to read. Thank you for writing it.
e chapter 6 . 12/23/2014
This was utterly lovely and so well-written. The prose flowed with not a single misstep in the style of language, and it was so evocative, too-just the right amount of description to make the story come alive in my mind's eye, and perfect handling of those little moments of growing intimacy. I can hardly believe it's 100k words, it flew by so fast. Thank you for writing this!
whippersnapper101 chapter 6 . 9/14/2014
No words, except five. Practically perfect in every way. But a few things in particular.

I can imagine it would be very easy to only talk about Valjean and Javert and their developing feelings, but like Hugo, you steer clear of that, and make it clear they're inhabiting a real world, with real, well-rounded characters.

The pacing: spot-on. Nothing else to say. It builds off the nemesis-ship, and you subtly but surely have each change the other for the better, in a completely believable way. And yet, they remain completely in character and completely in sync with Brick.

Dead serious: If I ever make a Les Misérables television series (faithful adaptation of unabridged, of course), I'd seriously consider making a DVD extra (lost episode, if you will) of this fic.
Kon chapter 3 . 8/1/2014
I don't read a lot of fanfics, but this one is THE best I've ever read. The narration, the characters, the plot.. I've never read such an engaging story. And Javert is really really adorable
Khelek-sul Renai chapter 6 . 6/19/2014
It's been a while since I read any Les Mis fanfic- when I saw the update I ended up putting it aside until I had time to reread the entire story. I'm glad I did; I had forgotten how much I loved your version of Javert's voice and thoughts. This isn't a style I normally read-but that's because I rarely find authors that can write in it well and do so on topics that interest me. This story I could easily read again and again and again. It fits the characters so perfectly, and I love watching them change and grow. Not just Javert and Valjean, but the other side characters as well. There's the sense of the wider world still effecting those two and going on without the two seen in catching sideline glimpses as Cosette expands her world and Moreau and Azelma's relationship grows.

I really like how you wrote Azelma and the chances you gave her to be more than she was, by the way.

YAY that Bissette's arrest went well. I love the fact that you do not just gloss over Javert's job. It gives both a sense of time passing as cases go by, allowing changes in comfort levels to seem more natural slow progressions without the jarring "two months later" type announcements being placed in the story.

The party was really fun to read, and you can very clearly see Valjean's influence on the once completely uptight Javert there, with him relaxing enough to grumble at Valjean and even tease Moreau. No one back at the station would believe Moreau's tales for a moment if he went back and told them that Javert was teasing people at the party.

I love how slow and natural everything felt in this story, and that you ended where you did. The ending fits them and fits the story. Well written. Great read.

…Darn it, I'm going to be stuck back in the Les Mis fandom again until I read/reread all the good stories again, aren't I? I'm blaming you for any neglect of other fandoms.
SerenityWritesSlash chapter 6 . 6/7/2014
I thought this was a beautiful story. Thank you so much for writing this.
Hannah Lynn McDonald chapter 5 . 5/7/2014
Hm. I'm half-way terrified to see what might happen between the two next.

This is such a beautiful story! I love how you've written the two characters-they are real and true.

I'm so glad I found this-thanks for posting this!
Hannah Lynn McDonald chapter 4 . 5/7/2014
Thank goodness! I abhorred that man!

And no, I don't care what Valjean would think of that...
