Still waiting.
daled73 chapter 7 . 11/25/2007
Hi,

Just wanted to post a review here to let everyone know that new people are still discovering this jewel of a story. I am very sorry about the family situation you mentioned (in you bio on home page) that is keeping you from writing at present, but I want to encourage you to return to writing and to finish this gem in particular. As the last update to this was several years ago, I hope and pray it is not abandoned.

The story of how Peregrin Took ended up wedded to Diamond of Long Cleave is becoming a lovely tale under you pen, so please don't let it remain unfinished.

You seem to have a natural grasp of the "voice" that JRRT used in the Lord of the Rings, and a facility for making the Hobbits and their world come alive.

I would even disagree that the Ballad is not really "up to snuff"... since it was composed by Pippin, and not a professional Bard, I think it is really quite good. Just like the audience in the Hoom did.

Please let you muse bring you back to finish this piece of the Great Story which Tolkein left unwritten.

I was expecting to read something wonderful in this ballad and you did not disappoint me! I am just in awe of how well you wrote this. loveofthering rises from her seat and gives you a standing ovation!

I am shocked that you have not gotten hundreds of reviews from this story! All I can tell you is that everyone is missing something very special in not finding and reading this wonderful story!
loveofthering chapter 5 . 7/26/2004
another fascinating chapter! I enjoyed read this so much. I chuckled when Diamond got her first look at Pippin and liking what she saw. I thought the introduction to his tale was awesome!

Ballas of the White Lady of Rohan...

I only hope that the next chapter has that in! I look forward to reading it and knowing what a good author you are, I am betting it is wonderful!

I love the Hoom as you described it, sounding so much like out of the pages of Tolkien and mirroring Clearwater with Barliman Butterbur of the, 'Prancing Pony' was priceless!

I love how you introduce your characters in this story and given just enough information about them to make them interesting to the reader!

Anyway great job! I am just loving this!
loveofthering chapter 4 . 7/24/2004
I absolutely loved your Diamond character you have in your story. She is perfect for Pippin!

I almost had to wrap a blanket around me and squeal with excitment just thinking about the two meeting each other and discovering their common interests! But I know that is in the upcoming chapters that I am looking so forward to reading!

I am really excite also for them to find the Entwife for Treebeard. I always thought when I read that part in the books and movie that someone should do something to help Treebeard to find her...

I am so happy to find this story to put that to rest. Anyway, I just have to tell you how much I am enjoying reading this wonderful story.

Oh, this just keeps getting better and better! I absolutely love this FF story! This has to be one of the very best that I have read on this site! You are such a wonderful writer!

I loved how you described the Green Dragon, I could almost see it in my mind. I must of smiled the entire time reading about Estella and Merry when she gave him the blanket she made for Elanor. Then how Merry felt about her, walking her to her door, even though her brother teased Merry about it. Then Pippin joining in teasing him about her while they rode their ponies. So sweet!

Your writing makes me forget that I am actually reading and just sitting back and savoring each word! awesome job with this story!
loveofthering chapter 2 . 7/21/2004
I am enjoying this so much! You are such a wonderful author. This story reads like a missing book from Tolkien himself! Look at your feet, are they hairy? You must be at least half hobbit to write their characters so very well? LOL...

Any way, I am very far behind all my work...I promise to be back and read more chapters. I just can not get enough of this wonderful story!
loveofthering chapter 1 . 7/21/2004

I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT! :) Oh, this is wonderful. You're one of the few writers to be able to capture the feel of hobbits and their personalities. And Pippin, dear Pippin! A lovely story, and a lovely ballad by the way. I cannot wait for more of this story. It's going on my favorite stories list!
Gabreilla Moushigo chapter 6 . 1/26/2004

While I have to say that I love this story so far, this review is really for your ballad. I'm not going to lie and start gushing about how it is the most wonderful ballad I've ever read, because, quite frankly, it is not. However, it is one of the better ones I've ever read, not to mention the fact that it is one of the few ballads I've ever read more than once. Despite a few awkward moments it flows quite well and, while you may think it's not quite up to Tolkein's par, I highly doubt he would scorn it, especially considering the obvious work you've put into it. All in all, I believe you do yourself too little credit and I would be delighted if you were to write other works similar to this.
You have a certain maturity that gives you a distinct advantage over the majority of LotR writers; who are largely hormonal teenagers who have only seen the movies and want nothing more than to jump Legolas. I apologize if that sounds rude, but you must understand that I've been a devoted fan of the books for over five years(a long time for me since I'm only fifteen) and have read a LOT of bad LotR fanfics. Every time I find a good writer who has actually read the books and understands the characters' true natures, which the movies really don't do justice to, I feel as if I could weep with relief.
Well, I feel, and I wouldn't be surprised if you agreed, that this review has gone on long enough. I eagerly await your next update, whether it be on this story or any of your other ones.

You know what's so great about this story? It actually sounds like Tolkien wrote it. Or at least a lot of it.
Lots of fun to read, and I hope they find the Entwives and that Treebeard isn't gone yet so they can give him the good news.
I also hope that you keep this going, because (like I said) it's tons of fun to read and is a wonderful story! Kudos!
Lil'layah chapter 6 . 12/11/2003
Just a perfect little tale about my favorite hobbits! Wonderfully crafted, being executed in a way that allows the character's personalities to shine. More!
Lindiel Eryn chapter 7 . 11/24/2003
Nice, the ballad reads well, and putting it to rhyme like how tolkien does it quite often was a good touch. I'd have to read it aloud to get the full effect though.
