rebecca-in-blue chapter 15 . 12/2/2019 Oh my gosh, I am so sad to see this story end, but at the same time, what a perfect final chapter. I love that you didn't make them into a completely cozy, lovey-dovey old married couple but instead still have them fighting and butting heads plenty - just never losing sight of how much they love each other beneath that. Their matching rings are such a nice touch. Wonderful work - I'll be sharing this at my forum! :) |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 14 . 11/25/2019 Gah, I just love this chapter! Erik getting all protective of Charles, refusing to leave him or give up on him is so touching. "let me guide you home for once" is a beautiful sentiment, and so perfect for their situation. I also love how Hank and Erik are trying to work together for Charles sake; it's kinda awkward but also funny and touching. Loving this story so much! |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 13 . 11/23/2019 I love the contrast between Erik/Charles and Raven in this chapter. The two of them really cementing a future together, working towards compromise, "I'm home, too." Then at the same time, Raven setting out on her own to uncover who she really is. Her "I've spent so many years" monologue fits her so well, and I think it makes more sense than what they actually did with her in the movies. But just when I was hoping for warm fuzzies, you had to drop that final scene on me with no warning! I might have to hunt you down if this story doesn't end happily. |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 12 . 11/19/2019 What an exciting, action-packed chapter, especially that moment of Erik getting hit with the tranquilizer dart. I love how you're using Magda and her family in this story; it's a pretty rare move to see in fanfiction, and you're doing it so well. I also love the reunion between Charles and Raven here, and his optimism in the final lines. "It'll all be okay" - I hope so, too! |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 11 . 11/11/2019 Wow, there is really some good stuff to celebrate in this chapter: the people around Stryker standing up to him, Charles finally reading Erik's mind and seeing his view of their shared memories, and the rest of the team coming up with a plan to break them out! Is the little boy in this chapter Peter? What an interesting move if it is him. As always, can't wait to read more! |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 10 . 11/4/2019 The feels were in this chapter were almost too much! The reunion between Charles and Erik here is so sad and heart-wrenching. I love the way that Charles's body reacts even when his mind doesn't - the breathing, not breathing, shaking, the intense emotions that he doesn't understand. And the haunting, lonely image of those final lines. Why couldn't Charles just instantly regain his memory (or at least his memories of Erik) via the power of love? |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 9 . 10/28/2019 Wow, this chapter was so intense to read. The opening scene with Azazel was surprisingly gut-wrenching, and I loved the bit of foreboding in Charles after he heard Stryker call him an "it." That Stryker is really one smart, sick, twisted villain for the way he's manipulating Erik's feelings for Charles. I don't what his plans are with Erik, but I have a feeling that Erik isn't going to take it lying down, even with Charles under threat. |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 8 . 10/21/2019 Oh, that damn Stryker. I am ready to see him suffer mightily for how he's manipulated Charles. It really worries that he's had him for three months already - the rest of the team is clearly floundering without him, and I think the longer he's with Stryker, the easier he'll get to control. I love the way you write how desperate Erik is to find him in the beginning, and how relieved he is when he sees the photo. |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 7 . 10/14/2019 Oh man, that ending scene just tore my heart out and stomped on it. It's so powerful the way you write Charles trying to hold onto his memories of Erik as they slip through his fingers. And I'm really nervous about to what purpose Stryker would want to wipe his memories. You write Erik and the kids all butting heads so well, and it's realistic while they're all so scared for Charles. I hope they can work together and find him soon! |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 6 . 10/7/2019 Oh man, what an intense chapter! Charles seems so angsty in the beginning, but I guess it's hard to suddenly get your memories back and remember that you helped kill somebody. Stryker gathering his troops outside the mansion really brought me to the edge of my seat. I don't know what "something that you're not good enough for" he has planned for Charles, but Erik had better spring to his rescue soon! What a cliffhanger of an ending! |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 5 . 9/30/2019 Oh, that opening scene has so many feels, especially how Charles gets his powers back but can't control them right away, and how Hank assumes that Erik's done something to him when they see him unconscious. But that ending! Rrrr, you let Charles have his powers back just to have Erik leave him! I do like they're both so reluctant to end it and they make out one last time, but this is really not where I wanted this story to go! |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 4 . 9/23/2019 Haha, I love that description in the beginning of the kids' reaction to their "parents" fighting. So freaking hilarious, it makes me sad that Erik and Charles are at odds for a lot of this chapter. I'm guessing Erik was behind that "operation to free Emma Frost" - I hope he doesn't end up regretting it. What an intense scene at the end with Charles regaining his telepathy and passing out! |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 3 . 9/16/2019 What a loaded chapter! I love how the other mutants are trying to help Charles in their different ways - Hank just sitting with him after he wakes up (and ooh, what an intense nightmare about that coin going through his/Shaw's skull), Erik actually going to bed with him. It's so sweet and tender at the same time. The second part, with all of them butting heads after Moira showed up, was a good contrast to that. I'm glad Charles decided to "take some bloody time" before he acts on anything. Those final lines about him and Erik hit so hard - there better be a happy ending waiting at the end of this! |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 2 . 9/9/2019 Wow, the twist in this chapter really hit hard. And I think it's going to make for a very interesting fic that instead of being physically injured, Charles has apparently lost his entire memory. I felt so bad for Erik and Raven here, realizing that he doesn't even know who they are. I loved his reaction when he sees Raven's true form, and also those last lines - I think there might be a good chance in this story to bring out Erik's rarely-seen softer side. |
rebecca-in-blue chapter 1 . 9/3/2019 Oh man, that is what I call a brilliant first chapter. I love that you follow the Day at the Beach pretty closely, then take it in an AU direction at the perfect moment. Not that this was exactly light reading, but it was uplifting in a way, to see all of them working together to help Charles, despite their feelings with each other, rather than splitting apart like they did in the movie. And what an intense final line! I can't wait to read the rest of this. :) |
