I absolutely adore this. I think it was really well-written and reality was kept in mind. Not a lot of authors do that ! :)

Did Gwaine know about Merlin magic? He talk likes he know what Meelin do. I really love how Lancelot try to communicate with Merlin. He is so understanding. I love to see when Lancelot protwct Merlin woth his own life

i love that acknowledgement of their similarities - both of them set apart since birth to be /different/. both of them affected - adversely, it can be argued - by the purge and the ban. also i like arthur conceding merlin's point about /having/ to keep the secret, understanding and forgiving, rather than demanding, why didn't you tell me...
well done - i very much enjoyed the last story and this sequel!

merlin's waking up was the perfect mix of cute and comical - sweet and poignant, and again - /not maudlin!/ yay!

that letter. just... wow. it was awesome - funny and matter-of-fact and yet sentimental, too, without being maudlin... perfectly merlin. :) (and, a good way to do a reveal!)
(ps, 'all that i was able to do b/c of you' - i think that's a point people miss sometimes, what arthur gave back to merlin, his purpose and his accomplishments b/c of doing them for arthur or with him, or whatever...)

love merlin's conversation with freya, worried that each time he kills, it becomes easier to resort to, the next time - and dying now will prevent him from becoming a 'monster'...
seems like that's a warning the cailleach should have given them at the time - that if merlin died young or violently, it would be ten times worse...

merlin has this way of telling the truth that makes it sound ridiculous - and coupled with the crazy excuses he gives, is it any wonder arthur doesn't really believe him?... poor oblivious arthur. poor underestimated merlin.
interesting little moment with uther dying, and kilgarrah watching him go... interesting also, that kilgarrah can heal him in the dream...

(one of arthur's more amusing orders - i am prince, i command you to get me some trousers! :D)
i found myself wondering, if merlin believed he was dying, and yet had connection to arthur in the dream - if he might not tell him of his original, innate magic...

and geez-oh-pete. oh, merlin, too...

wow. great scene, merlin possessed - and what's more, b/c he allowed it, more or less, to prove to arthur he was telling the truth. arthur really needs to realize how important it is to merlin that he takes him seriously.
(how about brownies with white chocolate chips?...)
