I've had a wisdom tooth out at 27. It depends on the dentist and patient. This being Sherlock-I'm-fine-unless-dying-or-frightfully-close-to-it I'm not surprised he never bothered to have them removed.

I have to say, I had two impacted wisdom teeth removed last year and it was not fun. I ended up very sick from the anesthesia and dehydrated, though I got lucky and felt little pain. You did a very good job describing the pain beforehand and the funny drugged conversation. I apparently told my mom the neighbors were selling drug cookies from a hole in the ground. Odd, but anyway - I just wanted to say nice job! :)
