wbss21 chapter 34 . 3/17/2015
Oh, wow man, I couldn't believe it when I saw an update for this story, and I was so happy when I did. I didn't know if you'd abandoned it or not, but I am so, so happy that you didn't, and what an amazing, wonderful conclusion it was.

And damn, I really thought the opening scene was REAL, and I swear, I was sitting there with my hand over my mouth, just wide eyed in shock and horror over what was happening, thinking that all of those people really had turned on Loki and were beating him to death.

Needless to say, my relief was massive when it turned out only to be a dream, though my heart still broke into a thousand pieces for Loki, just to see his utter fear and trepidation over what would happen at the feast the following day. Just to see his certainty that Asgard was going to reject him completely, that Odin wouldn't tell the truth, and that some might even attempt to murder him. Though the conversation he had with Sigyn was just incredibly beautiful too, and heartwarming. To see Sigyn doing her best to reassure him, and to reaffirm her pledge and promise to him, to always stay by his side, no matter what, and for Loki to finally realize that she really, truly means it, and that she never IS going to abandon him, that was just such an amazing, poignant moment between them.

And what can you say about the build up to the feast and the eventual conclusion? You really, really know how to build tension, and I found myself seriously on the edge of my seat, nervous as all get out. Especially in seeing how closely certain aspects of it was mirroring Loki's dream. And when Loki did finally get called up by Odin, and that nobleman attacked him, man, my heart was in my throat, I was so freaked out.

But honestly, I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, satisfactory and amazing conclusion. After all of what Loki's been through in this story, and his entire family, after all he's suffered, all the doubts and fears, all the moments of near death, and of wishing for death, to see Loki finally stand before Asgard, to have Odin tell them the entire truth, and call him a hero in front of everybody, and to have the people of Asgard cheer for Loki, was just an absolutely incredible moment. You've been building to this moment for so long, and to see it finally arrive, to see Loki finally win the praise and acknowledgement he's always deserved but never had... it really was just the most amazing thing.

And the ending nearly made me cry, when Loki just closes his eyes, and he realizes that he's HOME. That the suffering of the last two thousand years is finally over, and he's home. Gah, I'm getting a lump in my throat just thinking about it.

Just fantastically, incredibly, beautifully done, and I can't thank you enough for sharing this amazing story with all of us. I'll definitely be looking out for anything you post in this verse or any other Loki stories you post in the future. You can be sure of that. Thank you so, so much again!

Ohhh man, I'm gonna be so sad to see this story end, as it's been one of my absolute favorite pieces of writing I've ever had the pleasure of reading. If you do ever make it available in book format, you can be sure I'll purchase it without hesitation.

Another fantastic chapter, and as always, emotionally so intense, and upsetting. It was nice getting to see the moments between Loki and Thor here, though seeing how weak and ill Loki still remains is rough. Seeing it from Thor's perspective makes it especially so, because Loki is his little brother, and more than anything, you can see how much Thor wants to protect him and keep him safe. And yet he has to sit there and see Loki so weak and sick he can barely stand on his own. But you captured the dynamic between them beautifully, with Loki teasing Thor constantly, and Thor falling so easily into this kind of banter with him. But Thor and Sigyn were right, and again, we see Odin's own failure to really understand how to treat or handle Loki, by barring the window. Objectively, Loki can reason that it's for his own safety, but on an emotional level, of course he's going to feel it's just another way for Odin to control and keep a leash on him.

And seeing how upset Loki was here, when he finally confessed his fears to Thor, about what will happen to his family if he is killed or cast out of the Realm, etc... It's heartbreaking, because Loki only wants to protect his family, and yet in his current state, he must feel so helpless and unable to do that at all. And the worst part is, Loki is, in a lot of ways, RIGHT. Asgard hates him, they think he's a traitor and even before that, they've never regarded him with any real love or respect. Not like Thor. You really get a sense of just how lonely Loki must have felt for most of his life, living in that kind of environment. And Thor does an admirable job here of trying to console Loki, assuring him that his heritage doesn't matter at all to his family. But it does concern me too, if Asgard ever finds out the truth that Loki is a Jotun, of what they'll do, since so many of them already feel such contempt towards him.

The confrontation with Odin is one I've been waiting for, and it was perfectly written. Absolutely heartbreaking though. Both for Loki and Odin, I think. Loki, because he's still so convinced and so terrified that Odin doesn't love him at all, that he only ever kept him around to be used as a tool, and Odin because he's finally realizing how badly he's blundered with his youngest son, and that his own actions are to blame for Loki having such a warped perception of him and their relationship. When Loki just let out finally his feelings that he's never been good enough for Odin, that no matter what he did, he could never win his love or approval, and called himself nothing but a mistake, gah, man, my heart just about shattered.

And then seeing Odin actually CRY, and apologize to Loki, and begging his forgiveness, that was an incredible and poignant moment, and hard to read, because you can see both of them are in so much pain. It's just awful. And you can see how much Loki WANTS to believe Odin, wants to know that he really does love him, but he has so much hurt and doubt in his own heart, because of what Odin's made him do, and because of the fallout from those commands, it's just so hard for him to have faith in his father anymore.

And then there's Odin command that Loki attend this feast, and I can only guess at what his intentions are there. I know he doesn't want to hurt Loki any more than he already has, and there must be some purpose to it. I'm assuming Odin isn't going to just keep the truth that it was him who commanded Loki to play at betraying Asgard, and that Loki was only acting on his orders. He has to reveal that, or Asgard really will continue to hate Loki and he'll likely never be safe within his own realm. If Odin doesn't reveal the truth, I'm not really sure he would deserve Loki's forgiveness.

I guess we'll have to wait until the last chapter to find out. Loki's had such a hard time, man, I hope he can have a happy ending here.

As usual, fantastically done, and I can't wait to see what happens next! Thank you for sharing!

Well, that's going to be interesting...hmm I wonder whether Odin will reveal to everyone that he ordered Loki to "betray" them..
