Anon chapter 8 . 8/13/2013 I really really like this. It has a unique plot and a different set of characters (well, not entirely). The pacing was good. And your sentences were short, but it just grasps just the right emotions to drag me into the story. Your wording was good, maybe even perfect (if there's such a thing). I don't know what else to say. Haha. Good luck on your future chapters! |
Rock-n-Round chapter 8 . 3/31/2013 Hello, was looking around for an R/H story and I've got to say your summary caught me Immediately. So I clicked it and I didn't regret the decision :) I'm shocked that your story didn't get the reviews it should, but I honestly thought it was better than most on this site, I hope you won't be discouraged by that and continue to write! I really liked the portrayal of Hotaru in this story- it was real despite her being in an entirely different body. Your writing style somewhat changes while you write differeny scenes, but I suppose that's only fitting because of the differing level of action in the chapters. That's some of the stuff I'd like yo point out which I enjoyed reading. The development of the story is at a suitable pace as well. It's an enjoyable read thus far! ;) Anyways, I'll be following (perhaps stalking) your story All the best, I'll be looking forward to more! -Rock-n-Round |
Annabelle Rae chapter 5 . 1/20/2013 I uh, read your author's note at the end, and I felt guilty when you said (typed, whichever works) that you're feeling discouraged with regards to writing the story. I normally leave reviews when I like a story, but I don't like doing so on my phone. It's hard, I make a lot of errors, it isn't as in-depth as I would like it to be, and it just sucks. Still, I want to tell you that your story is wonderful, and I thought I couldn't put that off any longer. :) What I like most about the story is the plot. It's the first of its kind here, I believe. A dragon-Hotaru is really unique, and quite hard to pull off, in my opinion. However, I thought you executed it quite well. Hotaru's character in its entirety was captured, albeit given the fact that it was her character in a dragon's body. It was the kind of characterization that basically screamed, "Hotaru!"-in dragon-form, no less. Hotaru being one of the hardest characters to portray well, and with the additional challenge of having to do it when she's an entirely different creature... well, I guess that shows how much potential you have as a writer. :) Second, I liked the build up of the friendship of Ruka and Hotaru. On normal circumstances (in your story, at least) it would have been impossible for them to have a decent conversation, as what was shown in the latest chapter. However, their situation was far from normal, and so, it was a time that called for desperate measures for them both. Also, I liked how their first encounter (with Hotaru a dragon) was far from perfect, what with Ruka running and Hotaru chasing-a complete opposite of what we have been accustomed to, as readers. It was refreshing and funny in its own way, and the meetings that followed seemed genuinely sweet, especially on Ruka's part. A dragon is a different case for him, yet he still befriended her, even if said dragon was Hotaru. There's also this question of how Hotaru became a dragon. The sense of mystery captivates us as readers, and makes us want to read more in order to find out the cause. In most cases, a reader would be frustrated with not having found out the truth behind the story, but that was not the case here. Having been presented with a lot of possibilities, personally, I found it fun to consider various events and set-ups that might have led to what happened. It makes us use our brains, too, instead of being fed with information. Although not highlighted, I was really happy that you showed Subaru's concern for his sister's well being. Subaru is one of my favorite characters in the manga, and his love for Hotaru as brother was admirable, though not quite evident with his actions. That said, it was nice that you chose to include him in the story (because goodness, I've only seen like, 5 stories with him in it) and show his love for Hotaru. :) I also liked how you showed Mikan's sorrow with Hotaru missing. It shows their closeness as best friends. And oh, you have a great writing style! Thank goodness people like you exist; I was quite convinced that a chosen few know proper grammar in GAFFn nowadays. :( Your grammar is superb and your descriptions are wonderful; they make us feel the story more. Those being said, I hope you continue writing. I know it sucks when we don't receive reviews, but I'm sure a lot of your silent readers appreciate your story as much as I do. :D Please don't be discouraged; you have loads of potential as a writer. It just happens that majority of the readers now opt for NxM, and confine themselves on the pairings fandom. Not receiving reviews does not make you any less than the others. In truth, you're much better than them for daring to be different. Keep writing, and I do hope you get well soon! For the meantime, I'll try to promote this story. :) Regards, Annabelle Rae P.S. I hope that was a long enough compensation for the four other chapters I haven't reviewed. :) |
mw chapter 3 . 1/11/2013 Very nicely done. I like your portrayal of out of it Hotaru, keep it up! |
guiltylights chapter 3 . 1/11/2013 Hello! This story is wonderful! I've never read a story when Hotaru is turned into a beast - and frankly speaking I think the way u approach in writing this is good! You also have a very commanding grasp of English, and this story really caught my attention! I hope u update soon! (But no pressure - people's lives can get pretty stressful.) ;) - B.N.D |
Meocaroba chapter 2 . 1/8/2013 I love this. I mean, I don't know where you're going with the story, but it's rare to see people writing stories about Ruka (or Hotaru) so I'm thankful for everything that I find. Your writing's pretty great and the plot exciting! I'm looking forward to what you have in store for the characters ;) |
