A lot of interesting, sometimes profound thoughts and insights here but a very disappointing ending...
First Ezra as shown on screen would never have thrown away something as valuable. He changed and came to value friendship, loyalty and such that bear no monetary value but money always stayed important to him. So he would have kept it probably in some secret place, as a reminder and as a means to relie upon in moments of need, for him and his friends. Ezra isn't the kind of man to make rash decisions like that with money.
With your ending, anybody could find it and it could be a disaster to follow, what with the greed that would surface and wreak havoc.

Good question. Good answers. Poor ending. Too many genuinely poor people who could use the money from the diamond.

I don't know if I would have done what Ezra did. I would have kept the diamond and maybe in time use to benefit the town, the gang, get Nathan proper tools, clinic etc but it was a well written story that I enjoyed reading anyway. Thank you.
