I really like this! It would be interesting to see someone's reaction to this story, like Bilbo telling the dwarves and elves in Rivendale or something... Heck I could see gandalf being surprised by this belief, I don't think he really pays attention to the hobbits as a whole no matter much as he relies on them in the books.
Anyway, its a really cool and interesting take on the hobbits!
