I loved your idea that the brothers are four different turtle species. Great idea for original canon and it was a fantastic read, thank you! My only suggestion is watch your compound-complex sentences, like when Donnie said "Look, I really don't know..." There were only a few that were difficult to understand, but your story was so good that I felt a bit sad when I couldn't figure them out. I worried that I might have missed something important. Overall this was an amazing story that was well written, thank you again!

Aw... Man, I could say so many things about this one-shot. Where to begin?

Well, speaking strictly on Tech-Specs, there were a few lines that read kind of awkwardly; I had to read one of Donnie's lines twice to make sure I was understanding it right (it was bit long and hadn't any comas). And the usage of some words seemed a little off, e.g. "Leo seamlessly stepped over" I didn't understand how 'seamlessly' was meant to work in that sentence.

OKAY, Technical Specifications notwithstanding, your ficcy was nice, but too short! (I was just starting to get into it, and then it was over.) DX

Your message was very clear and unwavering: they're just "pet shop turtles" and in no way related. With this concept firmly in place, I totally understood Mikey's sadness. Everytime I hear someone express the idea that the turtles have no connection to one another other than being raised together, it breaks my heart. This is the only reason I can't be more excited about this ficcy - the core concept makes me very sad ... because now the four of them really haven't any business referring to each other as 'brother' just as Splinter hasn't any real right to call them 'sons'. With this being the case, they're really just a makeshift family, separate pieces that form an awkward whole... (Kind of how Mikey was seeing it.)

Anyway, this doesn't mean I didn't like how you pointed out their differences, because I did. You did an excellent job reasoning out the issue, and showing the turtles' reactions to it. I also like the fact that you chose a specific species for each one - luv the fact that Raph gets to be a snapping turtle! XD Really explains a lot considering his attitude.

I also want to make mention of the fact that your ficcy had really great atmosphere! Your description of the cold/damp sewer really lended to the air surrounding Mikey's emotions. You were aware of how lonely he felt.
Of course, Leo wasn't much help - seriously, he didn't do anything that made Mikey feel better (and, no Leo, starting a wrestling match with Raph and Don doesn't count - that's more like evading the issue).

Seriously my friend, your story was nice! But for my own heart, I cannot write from the perspective that they are not related. To me, the chances of their eggs all coming from the same nest are an even 50/50 shot. Still, I support you, and will just adjust my thinking whenever I read one of your fics! _

Awww, that was an awesome story. Yeah, I can see the Turtles being four different species, too. It makes sense that they all couldn't be the same, yet that still makes them brothers even so. Nicely done on this, Chevy. I'll be eagerly awaiting more stories from you.

It does make sense that they are 4 different types of turtles, and I could see Mikey being (unecessarily) upset by this, and even though Raph and Don would have tried, it really would be Leo who would get through to him and offer him the comfort he needed. And although Mikey would have probably realized it eventually, it doesn't hurt to have a little reassurance from big brother!
