this was an intensely painful, heart-rending thing to read. the juxtaposition between peeta's childhood and gale's whipping was raw and real, and the conflicting, sharp feelings he has for katniss now only serve to highlight all the things he's suffered. thank you for writing this.

Really well done. This feels so like Peeta, in all his complexity, like few fics convey. You just nailed his voice and his motives and everything so well. I love how seeing Katniss defend and watch over Gale hurts Peeta but makes him admire her all the more, at the same time. It was sad contrasting Peeta's memories of his family with his breakfast with the Everdeens, the way he felt welcomed by Katniss's family but still separate. This story could have been nothing but angst, but the way you wrote it there was still love and hope. It was so, so good and so Peeta.

That was fantastic; I love stories that delve further into Peeta's experienced. I always feel like there is so much of him that can be said. Great job!

It was truly melancholy. Peeta wants to be with Katniss, but Gale getting injured was heartbreaking
and Katniss needed to be there for Gale. Peeta understood it, but still his heart ache seeing her with him.
