McHammy chapter 1 . 1/23/2013 Another classic Bee! I've hardly had time to re-stock the digestives from Broken and you come up with this and I see you've started another! A slightly sad tale but the ending did make me giggle, especially this bit: "Jefferson Starr: one man and his mission to save the universe... It sounds awful, Barbara." No wonder Grandma dotes on her grandsons so much. Well written as always and I shall try and keep up with your new one. x |
Sunny7777 chapter 1 . 1/2/2013 What a great story. I love the drama and how grant just does not know how to handle this. I really love her friend Barbara and the DVD of Jefferson Steele. That is hilarious. Very very clever story, I'm so sad it's a one shot, I'd love to see what happens when Jeff is born. Great writing as usual. |
TBMom chapter 1 . 12/30/2012 Very much enjoyed your story. Was really able to relate. |
Sam1 chapter 1 . 12/30/2012 Very poignant story with a topic that is utterly heartbreaking for those who experience a loss. You did a really good job showing how it's not just the mother who suffers but also the father. Why does it not surprise me that Jeff would respond such as he did while in utero? lol I wonder if each of his boys did the same. Wonderful little ficlet, Bee. |
Whirlgirl chapter 1 . 12/30/2012 Great backstory for Ruth. It took a lot of Living to shape her into the strong woman she is. All her fears and faith are so valid. Grant is wonderfully written. It's a hard thing for him to watch as his beloved wife risks her life to give them a family after so much tragedy and danger all ready. A simple handful of daisies tied together with string with a card that read Love Daddy. THAT made the tears came! Ruth and the Sci-Fi movie was fun. "Turn it back on MA!" And we know this one has a happy ending. Loved it! |
Virgilsgirl123456 chapter 1 . 12/30/2012 Aww that was such a sweet story bee well done |
thunderbird5 chapter 1 . 12/30/2012 Ai! Sad and funny. Love it. |
Elsa Jay chapter 1 . 12/29/2012 Aaw, this is so sad and sweet at the same time, also full of hope. Grant also shows that dads hurt just as much as mums. Lovely writing Bee. |
Angel-Sue76 chapter 1 . 12/29/2012 aww that was so sweet and yet so sad at the same time. what a troubled time they have had and had to keep reminding myself that I know they do in the end otheriwse we wouldn;t have the boys but it was stilll heartbreaking. Its nice to see this side of Grandma and meet her husband too as there is little written about him. Great story. Happy New Year. |
mcj chapter 1 . 12/29/2012 Silverbee, you did a very good job with Grant. Nice little story from you. Cheers mcj |
beadbird chapter 1 . 12/29/2012 Beautiful story about a much-cherished mother-son relationship, no wonder Jeff and his mom were so close. Love the bit about the spaceman dvd, that really cracked me up. Have a wonderful New Year, Bee! |
LexietFive chapter 1 . 12/29/2012 Oh this was just gorgeous, I felt like I was really there,my heart went out to Ruth,I know what it feels like to have to wait years for the babies you thought would be so easy to it does explain why there's only Jeff. So this was sweet and realistic. Loved that Grant visited Sarah's grave too(maybe cos he knew Ruth couldn't. It was lovely to see a snippet of her life before she was Grandma. fantastic. |
Loopstagirl chapter 1 . 12/29/2012 You are amazing. Who else could write something that makes me laugh even when there are tears in my eyes? This was so beautifully done, the way that you captured both of their emotions - even if Grant doesn't want to be there, he is hurting just as much and you manage to bring that across. Ruth! Of course this little one wants to live (an absolutely perfect last line, I'll have you know!) he has a world to change. And typical Jeff, liking the stars and the idea of the spaceships already. No wonder his name gets changed from what they originally had planned, he's going to make his case known no matter what. I've now got the most gorgeous image of Jeff as a baby, not an image I've often had, I must admit. Absolutely perfect, and it's nice to see something about Grandma before she was grandma... |
