Reviews for Another Path
Guest chapter 1 . 8/10/2016
That was really good. I'd love to see more in either a sequel or another fic. Maybe you could have different fics where the different Avengers meet the wizards. I loved how it ended with Stark. Makes a lot of sense. Stark's a good man, and while highly intelligent he can be a complete idiot when trying to fix things. Keep up the great work.
Little Doctor chapter 1 . 12/1/2014
Fantastic!
Crosshair chapter 1 . 11/7/2014
Overall, an okay story. Truth be told, having Steve Rogers be a wizard in training... didn't feel quite right though. His heroism in the movies at least revolved around kind being a good person, and that becoming a super soldier just let him do what a good person would do if they could. Making everything that happened to him his 'Ordeal' feel a bit dismissive of those events and his character.

I also kinda feel that you could've worked with Dr. Strange's origins and backstory a little better than 'He's just a wizard who went nuts, but is still a good guy. It seems callous and not very wizard-like for the Speech Wizards to write him off like that, as community and communication is so very important to them. Maybe, like, Strange had a very BAD ordeal and very little help with it, and ended up getting very entangled with entities that most Speech wizards don't deal with, and he tries not to get anyone else involved, even if they know magic.
He could be a bit like a 'hazardous environment agent,' specializing in extra-dimensional entities, so he stays solitary. 'Sorcerer Supreme' could be legitimized for the Speech Wizards as working in a certain 'very dimensionally public' way so as to be the official target of certain 'entities' so other wizards could do their basic work unmolested, and what was once an official position now meant painting a very big target on your back for inter-dimensional nasties.

I'm sorry if this is rude, but the story choices here just feel lazy, and waste a LOT of potential. The first part was GREAT though! Just Wizards doing good after a tragedy and co-incidentally meeting up with a Hero, and both of them working together to do good, without cost: Essentially, what both being a superhero and a Speech Wizard is all about. They could have just left with both of them realizing that there's something odd about the other, but recognizing that they're fighting evil and doing good in different arenas. Comradeship. A simple connection.

That's what Diane Duane wanted to point out in 'So you Want to Be a Wizard', that their goal is to ease suffering and slow entropy, and that you technically didn't need magic to do that: you could do the same thing by turning off a light to save energy. Eating healthily. Donating to Charity. You didnt' need to be a wizard or a doctor to save lives or fight entropy. You didn't NEED to be a superhero.

But there's nothing wrong with becoming a doctor, or a superhero, for that matter. Aspiring to be better for life's sake and accepting of flaws and differences is central to 'Young Wizards,' because even the lone power can be redeemed, and you don't need to be powerful to do good.
TrisakAminawn chapter 1 . 7/5/2013
...ack! Tony's evil. Well, that sucks. Way to anticipate Civil War. Maaaan. That was some heavy foreshadowing.

Nice crossing-over, and I did like the use of 'The Elder' as a Senior wizard who is clearly going to be teased about this. Thanos has got to be mixed up with the Lone One, of course, but that doesn't mean Loki was. Mocking Strange made me sad, but yeah...
Jillian A.K chapter 1 . 6/5/2013
Ack! Please don't leave it there! Can Steve free Tony from possession? I hope Tony didn't give in willingly. After all, you said Lucy subverts free will... And I get bet the mystery would drive a cured Stark up the wall, wondering how Steve freed him, or something.
SilveringBlue chapter 1 . 5/22/2013
Woah! Awesome! What a fantastic idea, and brilliant execution. I completely adore this. I really, really wish it was a multichapter story. And the bit about the guy standing up to Loki- you know, "Eldest, fairest, and fallen- greeting and defiance!" is exactly what went through my head.

And could it be that the Lone Power is using Stark for Steve's ordeal? Hmm, very interesting! Love it, love it, love it, thank you for writing this. And I don't say that lightly because I usually have some concrit to give out, but this one- it's perfect. :)
Avatar of Wurms chapter 1 . 2/28/2013
I re-watched the Avengers recently, and throughout the entire battle New York Battle I was thinking what would Wizards do if this happened in their universe(I figured Rhiow would be pissed because I'm sure the giant wormhole in the sky would completely eff with the worldgates, seeing as how they don't even like construction). This makes sense as an answer, at least for afterwards.

Happy to see Loki isn't an avatar of the Lone Power. Cause that just doesn't mesh well with him being an Asgardian/Frost Giant. But many people would have gone that way. Hmmm, seeing has how The Ones Champion lists one of his/her/its many names as Thor once I wonder how Kit, Nita, and pals would react to meeting Thor. And what Thor would think if there was a misunderstanding involving a certain prophetic bird.

Nice explanation for Strange! Ive been thinking(but not very seriously) about doing a Marvel/Young Wizards crossover and couldn't think of a way for him to make sense in YW. But insanity works so well!

Oh look hi Rhiow. Glad to see you've calmed down.

Oh shit Stark is overshadowed/possessed/influenced/vesseled. Hope its only temporary. Its cruel leaving the story like that I tell you, cruel! On the plus side Steve's lack of pop culture never ceases to be funny.
Irish-Brigid chapter 1 . 1/15/2013
Wait, what? That's the end?! No way! I want more! Like how the Big Bad of the universe ended up inside Tony. (It's not like I can't think of how, it's picking just one.)
Redwood Rhiadra chapter 1 . 12/28/2012
Ooh, interesting crossover and a great twist at the end.
bhut chapter 1 . 12/28/2012
Sigh. On one hand I think that you're being unfair to Tony, since he really was trying to do the right thing, sort of. On the other hand he certainly deserves this, because while ihe /iwasn't a villain per se, real villains certainly took advantage of his plan easily enough. So yeah, I seriously hope that captain America will be able to fix this mess iand /iTony.
