I cried for the entirety of this chapter. Never has the level of grief and sorrow persisted so perfectly and consistently in any other story I have ever read.

I just want to say that this was incredible and, if you were going for a tragedy, this would have been the perfect ending.

This was hard to enjoy. The writing was amazing but what Arthur did was unforgivable. And to have everyone just simply be mad at him for attempting to murder his friend was a pill too big to swallow. I felt nothing for Arthur in this story. Merlin, who was betrayed in the worst way, had no friends in his corner. This story made me feel sad. If would have been SO much better if Arthur had somehow warned Merlin or the physical act was never carried out. But the act of having his throat cut is not something he should have to forgive. It's too much.

Hi Olive. I just had the urge to read this story again. I was not disappointed. I can honestly say this is one of my top 10 favourite "Merlin" fics.

This was the deepest exploration of trust and betrayal and forgiveness I've probably ever read. Definitely the most in-depth Merlin fanfic I've read when it comes to those topics.
Um... good job. Very good job.
Merlin's forgiveness/healing did feel a teensy bit sudden. But that's, like, my only critique. And it wasn't sudden enough to be unbelievable, just... I don't know, surprising? He just seemed so broken, I didn't think it would be fixed that simply. Though you seem to suggest he might still feel broken on some days, going forward...
Anyway.
A definite favorite. 10/10 would recommend.
