Lovely stand-alone piece. But, honestly, I would love to see more if you had the inclination. Such a picturesque thing you've started and I feel you could do a lot with it. The emotion, and the personalities, are fantastic!

I love this. I could see this, happening, and I wished the ending had been something like this, rather than the most depressing, devastating glimpse of a weary homeless old man guarding the shores of the lake waiting, and waiting, and waiting.

Stories always romanticize immortality, but its such a high price to pay when you're at it alone.
