I wouldn't be surprised if she made a pass at Carlisle and was rejected so she went after Edward. Why did she go after Edward? She never explained it. That pedophile deserves to burn in hell.

Tanya deserves to die and painfully! How could she con Edward into giving up his life and school to take care of her and Alice?! If I were Esme I would have murdered Tanya. That woman is going to hell, and I hope she knows that. I hope Tanya realizes that her daughter will become a teenager and one day an old man might have sex with her daughter.
