This fiction started as something promising and exciting to end up in... something. While I understood by the way the story was going and the relationship between the characters, the ending wasn't going to be a happily ever after. I don't hate bad endings, don't misunderstand in any way, however the ending no the last three chapters were lazy. The fiction was pushed, rushed to the finish line, dragging the reader. Sand and Silk needs a few chapters more, scenes from Arthur's eyes and how he craved to have Alfred back, Laine and Asai's relationship, Matthew frantically searching his brother and how he escaped himself, the relationship between Arthur and Francis didn't get the attention it deserved, however, these might be left to the imagination of the reader, however, Alfred's twisted feelings, is something the writer had to give to the reader. He learned that his gentle master was killed for him, he learned that his brother, his blood was dead and he was attached to the man connecting the demise of both. As a reader, and writer myself, I expected the internal battle of Alfred and how he slowly started to fight for Arthur's attention more than his morals.
There were other plot points that were never mentioned again, like Alfred being literate. The only reason was because it was plot convenient, Alfred had the ability to read and write was for him to be purchased and get Arthur's attention, after that this was never brought again.
And the little fact that was was bought without the permission of the overseer. Here, I expected that someone was messing with the house expenses or why would it be mentioned if not to use, to hint for something in the future chapters? No matter how much enjoyed this story, liked the smutty parts, the lazy, rushed ending made me cringe. I believe, the writer could have delivered this ending perfectly with a few more paragraphs depicting Alfred's thoughts and feelings, accepting his brother's and Francis' death.
I hope your future endings will be well executed.

I fucking hate the ending.

Doesn't mean the rest of your story was truly outstanding when making me gasp in surprise from sudden changes in events I never expected at 12 am in a school night.

Okay...I loved this story it's so well written and rich, but what's up with the ending? I feel like I missed a chapter of something before the epilouge. It was way too sudden for a such a great story. I don't feel that Al would so quickly forgiven Arthur about Matthew, maybe had the story devopled him to be even more smitten by Arthur, almost so that it was insane, then he would have. That could have also helped you lead into the ending you seemed to be aiming for, one where the reader can tell how unhealthy and bad a stockholm syndrome relationship is. Which leads me to:
Besides that part of the ending issue, I love how you stated that the relationship could never end happily, it's something rarely admitted in fics involving Stockholm syndrome. It makes them seem unrealistic, so I'm really glad you strayed away from that!
So this is becoming its own novel now, so I hope you know that despite all of the critique I threw at you, I really did enjoy reading this story and can't wait to see if you have any other stuff! Thanks!

This has got to be one of the most heartbreaking stories I've read in this fandom...
Alfred's my favorite character, but I can't decide whether I feel more sorry for him for being reduced to this pathetic state or for Matthew for being killed just because he was being a loving brother.

Seriously, this last chapter made me want to scream in frustration. You tagged it wrong! There is no comfort in this story, only pain!

I cannot believe that it is over. It seemed so sudden; though I knew it was coming eventually. There is such a change in the feeling between the last two chapters, it was startling. I remember you mentioning Stockholm syndrome some time ago, so I guess I should have seen that ending coming. I still didn't expect quite what you delivered.

I still feel my heart breaking for them. *sniffles*
