OMG this story is SO brilliant! It is a gem full of beautiful metaphors - that true love transcends time, space and distance. It is a testament to the love that these 2 people have for one another - passionate, mad, complex - but true! Love is forgiving/forgivness; it is all encompassing and enduring. I love how Forrest loves Maggie - she is his focus, his ever-guiding light. Maggie leaves him 3 times, because she cannot bear to lose him forever, everytime he gets hurt, so she takes off until she can no longer bear his absence from her life, and she returns for the last time, Forrest makes a statement that she is not to leave him again, they'll marry, and to make sure she stays this time for sure - he flattens her tires, but Maggje stays because, in her heart, she comes to a sobering conclusion that they are meant to be always together in love and loving one another to the very "breadth and depth and height their souls can reach" (Elizabeth Barrett Browning); because now they know, that Love is forever...and that it is a neverending ache; a delirious balance that keeps them on a steady keel and makes them whole again.

Absolutely Gorgeous! Layer upon layer of complexity, which ends up equaling to the sum of all its parts in a lovely and perhaps, foregone conclusion of Hope equals Joy and always...LOVE
