Reviews for The Most Luminous of People
Unconvex chapter 4 . 6/21/2014
I love the way you got inside Sherlock's mind, and the way you made his thought not-quite make sense. They're very stream of consciousness-y, and make him seem completely delusional. It's great.
AliceMaybe chapter 1 . 5/2/2014
Regarding: "It happened so slowly like when you put a frog in cold water and turn up the heat gradually and it doesn't notice it's being boiled alive until it's far too late…"
I know that the slow boiling of frogs is a well used metaphor. I am in no way condemning your use of it, it is simply a metaphor that has ingrained itself in urban legend. It has become an archetype of our society.
I am therefore a little sad to inform you that it is almost entirely incorrect.
Dr Victor Hutchison (a herpetologist) has published findings on the "critical thermal maxima" or biological awareness of lethal temperatures of reptiles and amphibians. He found that even if you raise temperature very slowly the amphibian will notice and try its hardest to escape once the temperature reaches unpleasant levels.
On the other hand, according to the research of Dr George R Zug and Professor Doug Melton certain proteins behave in very specific ways when exposed to boiling water. The proteins in the frog's legs would coagulate and become useless. He would therefore be unable to jump.
If you wish to check my information I cited most of it from book by Dr Karl Kruszenlnicki.
I meant no offense, the metaphor is widely and broadly known and accepted, I simply found the information interesting and reviewed on the off chance you were partial to random trivia.
Or were outraged by our constant and scientifically improbable murder of figurative frogs...

Aaawwwwww!
EJ 12212012 chapter 4 . 6/24/2013
This was absolutely amazing. I have to say... I understand why Dark John got Sherlock going in this own twisted little way. There is something about the way you wrote him that just draws you in... then SNAP! He closes in on you like a venus fly trap.
2mrklr chapter 4 . 6/17/2013
Wow I just really really love Sherlock's descriptions in this story! So sweet, and fierce and they ring true to me. "Questionable cardigan" all brilliant!
CosmicEssence chapter 4 . 5/22/2013
like the idea of a light show in John, spastic Sherlock is very well described here as is uncertain and with a dangerous undercurrent. John's kill was rather gruesome sounding and Lestrade's interference came at just the right time. Loved it!
Motaku1235 chapter 4 . 5/9/2013
