u angel u chapter 5 . 12/22/2014 Wow inconsistent and late reviews! Sorry, I don't frequent this site nearly as much as I used to so it becomes pretty difficult for me to keep track of things. Anyway, on to the chapter Oh boy Annabelle is for lack of a better word interesting? I don't know, I've definitely seen girls like this before. The sadistic, forgotten girl who probably knocks out a few opponents before meeting her own demise. Hell, when I started doing SYOTs I made a girl like her. I think it's fun to write, but I've seen this go down pretty much the same way quite a few times. I don't know, I guess we'll see how her story goes. For Alec, as far as the hacking thing goes, I'm pretty sure that's standard district 3. I do look foreword to finding out more about his history and motives and seeing how he'll do in the games of course. The politics of Panem are always interesting to me so I'd love to see what he thinks about all that as well. So as far as District 3 goes, I think they're okay. I'm really excited to see what paths you make for them because there are a lot of different ways you could go about it. Akkie was great! I think his relationship with Elias was really fun as well as being realistically written. I like that his character is compelling and human without having to be too over the top, it makes me really like him! His back story also brings up some questions and it should be interesting to find the answers. So far, I really like him. Ariel was just a bit meh for me. She seems pretty typical of a district 4 girl. What with the combination of the name/the lack of volunteering. Ah well I'll just have to see more of her to really get an idea of how I feel about her. Q6: Probably Akkie Q7: Career districts have the upper-hand basically always. It's very noble to want to be from a non-career district, but I'd much rather have the training and ability if I were to enter a game where I literally had to kill or be killed. |
mrtw chapter 5 . 11/27/2014 Question 1: 12. 11. 7. Question 2: I'd want to be head game maker because I'd be able to be a leader and end the games. Question 3: I think that Savanna is strongest because she has had to deal with a lot. Second would be Quarl Question 4: I would hate the games, beca Question 6: I think I would befriend Alec, cause he is a rebel, Rebels are always my favorite. Question 7: I would not want to be a career, because, I'd rather be reaped fairly, and not be in the games because I have the upper hand. |
DC55 chapter 5 . 11/24/2014 Wonderful chapter. All the characters are very interesting, and I think you wrote both Ariel and Anna well. Now that I think about it, both of them are kinda typical, especially with the changes I made to Alice. Or Ariel, I can't even remember what I've named her now. Either way, I trust you, great job. Can't wait for the next chapter. I think I would befriend Ariel, of course, I'm a little bias. The other question is tough. Part of me wants to say non-career, just because the games would disgust me, but then again I want to say career because I'd like to have a better chance, if it ever came to it. Hmmm... |
xxbookwormmockingjayxx chapter 5 . 11/23/2014 Great chapter! DISTRICT 3 Annabelle: I've seen a lot of tributes like her in other syots but in those they are always the sadistical edge that can make the games creepy :) I think she will go pretty far into the games maybe an antagonist sort of thing my prediction is 12th place. Alec: I have also seen a number of rebel tributes and i adore them I like him and I want to know what is on that jump drive of his so badly the suspense! He is very calculating but I don't know how far that will take him my guess is 20th to 15th place range DISTRICT 4 Achilleus: I love him! I like how there is talk to rugby in the hunger games they mention sports but it isn't too detailed and I haven't read many stories that incorporate them so great job on that! I have a feeling his father is like the gamemaker or something like that because his uncle was talking about how he could make sure he would win but I don't know I could be completely wrong :) My guess is final 5 somewhere in there Ariel: I'm pretty neutral on her and woah district 4 doesn't like to volunteer I kind of like that though it sucks for Ariel who got reaped I think she will place 11th or 10th I cannot wait for the next chapter! |
Chaos In Her Wake chapter 5 . 11/23/2014 It's been ages since I wrote a review, but this story really deserves one after getting back on its feet! Anyway, the tributes first and foremost: District Three is pretty stereotypical. I don't know how or why, but over the past few years the D3 trope of 'tiny scared nerd girl' morphed into 'unstable killer who looks like tiny scared nerd girl', and I don't like either one? I prefer the original, honestly, because at least we got some variation in personality. Here, it just turns into the same thing over and over again with different names, families, and outcomes- either they die in the bloodbath or kill a few allies before being taken out by someone with an actual chance. I always feel like this type of character is made in an attempt to get a lower-district victor. It never works. Alec isn't much better in terms of trope- D3 hacker is pretty easy to guess. Volunteer- that was shock value, but I guess a nice tie in to his backstory. Which, I hope, we see lots more of, because his motives weren't very clear here. He does have personality, though, and the motivation to fight. He should be interesting, on the conditions that his backstory doesn't overwhelm him and that he doesn't fade to the background in the Capitol. D3 overall: Pretty common tribute types, names are nothing fun or new. Alec has more potential for development, and I definitely prefer him! In Four, I was pleasantly surprised. Akkie (btw, his name is awkward. Achilleus gets stuck in the mouth, Achilles would flow better and not need a pet name. Nairn... idk it's weird. It sounds sorta like 'nernie' which is a regional name for those little bits of stuff that you find floating around everywhere.) was way more complex than I predicted and that always makes me happy! On the surface, he seems tough-manly-Career type, but we saw in his relationships with Elias (what a great bromance btw, well written affection without going over the top or holding back for the sake of 'masculinity') and his uncle that he has a pretty caring, dedicated, cool dude side to him- and a backstory plotline that enhances his character. He's not really prepared for the Games at all mentally, so his development arc should be great! He has potential to be one of my favorites depending on what direction he goes in the arena. Ariel Marina Bright... oh gosh, that name is so over the top Four, I thought the Ariel and Marina phases were over. Dead parent, alcoholic parent, sob story, non-volunteer. All stereotypical Four girl for some reason. I don't get it. Her maternal side is pretty realistic for the circumstances, but watch out that she doesn't go Mary Sue (sob storycaretaker can unfortunately draw that way). I'm neutral on her. District Four overall: half meh and half cool! Both Akkie and Ariel could go good or bad, but I think Akkie has the most potential for an authentic, powerful subplot. He's definitely my favorite this chapter, and based on how he treated Elias I'd want to be his friend. For the other question, I would rather be from a Career district. It's automatic training, basically, your childhood would probably be easier due to being Capitol favorites, and once you ended up in the Capitol that boosts you substantially for sponsors. There's a tight knit group of allies for at least a few days, and almost no tributes can threaten you. It would make it way easier to drop into the Games- nearly guaranteed a pass for the first few rounds of killing. Also, being a Career District trib means nothing about your personality. All the bonuses from the training and Capitol are objective- they help you but don't signify any sort of mentality. It's not like being from 1, 2, or 4 makes you ruthless or anything. Last but not least, the writing. You've been gone for so long that I'm not surprised it took you a while to get back into the storyworld. The writing's a bit stiff, sentence structures are a bit choppy, caught a typo here and there but we all do that anyway :P Emotion is pretty good, and I like how you work in physical character descriptions piece by piece and then summarize appearance in full during the reaping. It makes sense, idk. Happy writing! |
Blue Eyes Arch Angel chapter 5 . 11/23/2014 And it's back on! I'm really excited for this, here's my overall opinions of each tribute based on this chapter: Annabelle-she's dark, she's creepy, and it's written in a way that it doesn't sound cliche or melodramatic,so very perfect,I think she's becoming a favourite Alec-Very interesting,he sees calculating but with motivation, also the way he is written is very poetic Akkie-somewhat of a typical career but I like his motivation,it's intriguing (also how come all these tribute's names begin with A?) Ariel-I'm a little confused, she's not a typical career, and how come no-one volunteers for her? maybe I'll find out more later Question time! 1:Alec,he seems like we could connect,or maybe Annabelle as creepy little girls are awesome 2:That's hard,if you're a career there's a higher chance of survival, but as a non-career you retain your morals and humanity, and there's less chance of going into the games anyway |
CreatureOfADay chapter 5 . 11/23/2014 This was a great chapter! I love all 4 tributes. If I had to befriend one it would be Alec ( but I'm really biased since he's mine). To answer the second question I would rather be from a career district because they have usually trained lots. Also if i didn't want to be in the games but got reaped the chances are there would always be a volunteer. I love the way you made Alec hack the head game makers files. Plus he still has the information on a memory chip, so I'm hoping he'll use that to his advantage. |
OhParadise chapter 5 . 11/23/2014 Such an awesome job on these four tributes! Looking forward to the next update!:D |
ChiisanaSakichan chapter 4 . 11/18/2014 Hello! It's so nice to have a new chapter :) as usual, I really like your writing! As for the story, I am very curious about what the twist in the games will be... The Minotaur... That's interesting... I wonder if the whole arena will be based on Greek mythology - like if it's gonna be a labyrinth like in the Minotaur story, or maybe just have many mutts that come from ancient mythology in the arena... I'm curious what the role of the Minotaur will be.. Because, while it is an unpleasant and scary monster, its human body might actually make it an easier enemy to beat (humans are not as strong and fast as other animals)... But obviously, being a mutt, these problems could be avoided anyways xD As for the sponsor question... I don't like Varys, I don't like that he is "disgusted" by what Lacey has done and "concerned" about the human tht was mutated. He kills children for a living. Lacey, in the other hand, stays true to her character and is cruel to everyone :) so I like her! An well, I think she must have definitely have suffered some sort of trauma in the past... You don't become so heartless an hopeless unless someone else has been heartless with you.,. |
Jael.Rice.1 chapter 4 . 11/13/2014 A Minotaur? Are these Games going to be set during Greek times? 'Cause this reminds me of a SYOT story I did years ago that never got completed (and which the author diverted from by including Weeping Angels towards later chapters before giving up entirely). I'm more interested to see who the “people she requires” are. Tributes family? Friends? Other loved ones? And the drugs. Considering how brutal Thorns is, I can only image that it will be something that will break even the strongest tributes. I love the idea of doing a 200 word story on our tributes. I can't wait to write about Quintus. It has been too long and I miss my little Career. Sponsor question: I didn't think much of Varys at first. I just thought he was an overworked Gamemaker working for a tyrannical president and is determined to not screw up as much as possible. But the scene with the Minotaur changes everything. His horrified reaction to it shows a more human, compassionate side. This is a man who does show concern for the well-being of others despite working a job which kills kids. Based on the last line, I think Lacey experienced something traumatic in her life, which has further hardened her. Probably not torture, since it might trigger a post-traumatic psychosis. But something horrible enough that she shed her humanity and opted for cruelty if it means getting ahead and pleasing President Thorns. And I don't think her scar has anything to do with this traumatic past. I just think she got it from dealing with a particularly difficult Mutt. |
xxbookwormmockingjayxx chapter 1 . 11/13/2014 this is a review for chapter 4 Amazing chapter! A MINOTAUR that's amazing me being a greek mythology nerd I am happy to see it being used in the story but I am also fearful for the poor tributes who have to face it. Lacey kind of scares me and I think something horrific happened to her that warped her mind and caused her to become slightly unhinged And I like Varys he is interesting :) I cannot wait for the next chapter! |
Blue Eyes chapter 4 . 11/13/2014 Blue Eyes Arch Angel here I like Varys very much, his personality is realistic and human, not something you would expect for capitol people,as for Lacey she seems so awesomely pyscho! |
xxbookwormmockingjayxx chapter 2 . 11/13/2014 I forgot to review this chapter so here we go :) Amazing I love how descriptive you are in your writing I adored your prologue! Thorns is my favorite person to hate I like and hate her at the same time :D poor katniss :( and the other victors as well I like how you still made johanna hydrophobic I have read some stories who made her get over it but I don't think she would ever fully get over it so amazing job on that! Questions I LOVE district 7 it is my favorite district my two other favorites are 2 and 4 :) I think my job would either be planning the arena or the mutts I don't know i have a lot of ideas for arenas and mutts haha |
bobothebear chapter 2 . 11/11/2014 Hiya :) The great thing about Thorns is that her malice and heinous personality has reasoning behind it. She's not just evil for the hell of it; she's got rationality and thinks borderline normally. Her childhood has destroyed the remnants of naivety and humanity, replacing it with the darkness we see today. Very nice. . The bit with Katniss was great; I find it interesting that she lived. Logical? Well. To a certain extent, yes. Life is harder than the death Coin and Co experienced, but... why does she not end her own life in the district? There are hardly any restrictions (unless she has a guard or such). Fantastic chapter, as a whole. Very nice, very nice. Question-wise, I favor Districts Seven, Five, and Two in that order :3 I'd probably go for a minor job; selecting the backpacks and weapons and such, purely to avoid having lots of responsibility in my hands. As we've seen, that usually doesn't end up too well. :) Cheers! |
bobothebear chapter 1 . 11/11/2014 Heya :) Just got a hold of this story last night, so apologies in advance for the tardiness. I love the prologue and all the issues that Goldsworthy has created; truthfully, there's not she could've done. Yes, she could've killed off Oakley, but how could she have told Oakley's ulterior motive? She had no chance. Anyway, I adore your writing; very descriptive, and the dialogue is vividly natural. I've submitted, and I hope you like her :) Cheers! |
