I love Sally Jackson. So. Much. One of the saddest things about the HoO series is that none of the new characters have a sweet mother figure like her. She is honestly one of the best characters that gets the least credit in PJO, and I love this story because... well, pre-series Percy really tugs on the heartstrings (obviously, poor kid), and also Sally is amazing. :) Another beautiful story! (Okay, your email is going to be REAAAAAAAAAAAALLY crowded now... But you probably don't mind, do you? :P)

I agree with you that many people forget that Percy had a crap childhood, too. He's luckier than a lot in what he had in his mom, but he also had Gabe to deal with, and getting kicked out of school every year had to be hard. I agree that this loneliness and insecurity comes through in the books; I am really enjoying reading your young Percy fics that deal with this. This particular fic was sad and made me want to cry. Good job.
