I really loved this. Mostly because I loved Gwaine since the moment he showed up and the friendship he had with Merlin. Season 5 made me sad because the small moments Merlin and Gwaine shared were gone and I didn't even realize it until the second to last episode when Merlin didn't tell Gwaine anything and then departed to the Crystal Cave and Gwaine's face. . . Oh god that look he gave Merlin was the shocking realization that they grew apart and came to terms with it. It was heart breaking. . .

Yeah ... It's kind of true. It has been this way since sometimes in Season 4, and it seems like since Gwaine became a knight, his close friendship with Merlin has quietly and slowly shattered, even though they lived in the same city, unlike before.

I deeply miss that, the fun between Gwaine and Merlin. And Gwaine used to be Merlin's closest friend, besides Arthur, especially since Lancelot is dead.

OMG! That was brilliant! I really really really loved that! It's so sad! Awesome story! I really really really liked it. And the ending was perfect!

This was just soooo sad! And I completely understand to. I mean, there have been what, TWO, moments so far in this series where you see their old friendship. When Merlin was injured by Morgana and he wouldn't wake up and when he went to get Merlin from the cells... that's it! THAT'S IT!

Do they just not love Merlin anymore? First they leave him behind in the caves. Then when he's hurt by Morgana, the majority of them were like 'yeah, it's Merlin, he'll be fine in a few hours'. THEN no-one, not even GWAINE stood up for him when 'brain-washed Gwen' decided to send him to the dungeons...

And Merlin just never smiles anymore either, he's always sad...

It's just so depressing, I miss the buddying friendships, the banter and the Merlin who had a smile that could light up the room. The Merlin that was just so damn adorable..

i wish gwaine and merlin where close again. they were good friends. it seems like arthur is driffting apart from merlin too. really really good!

Very good, and sadly very true, this season it seems all friendships are broken. Maybe its just as they get older...have more responsibiities...but I miss it and your story really made me relise quite how much.

I am literally crying now. So sad the worst thing is this is so damned true! *falls to knees sobbing dramatically*
