Reviews for The Red Hand of Vengence
Munkeyfump20 chapter 20 . 8/23/2017
Oh you are very cruel cliff hanger I hate them but thanks for the read cliff hangers spoil a good story.
Thorntons chapter 20 . 1/23/2017
What a fantastic story, I could always imagine a darker side to GVP and really enjoyed your depiction of her. The point you have broken off at leaves my mind considering all the possibilities, you've set this up so well. If you ever felt inclined to pick the story up I would love to know what ending you had planned.

The whole dynamic of the team slightly on edge with each other worked so well. Even if it is only half a story, it's been a real pleasure to read.
FiascoWay chapter 20 . 1/22/2017
Forgot to mention how great the Karen Cross killing was, it foreshadowed what the show did to Dr. Miller. Your plot is so good, I'm truly sorry to not know the end. TM was always short of well plotted stories and that goes double for stories that cover the final battle between Jane and RJ.

It's a crying shame that you didn't complete this story, though I can understand how frustration with the show could kill motivation. Given your story is so much better than the canon RJ take down, however, it's a real loss the story finished here.

Of note in this chapter is how evil it was to go after Grace and it was so beautifully set up in the previous chapter. If course RJ managed to get to Jane, always the weak point in his plan...

Jane being Jane, I wouldn't be surprised if he already had a tracker on himself and he only mentioned it to Lisbon to plant the suggestion in her mind so she thinks of it when he's reported missing.

Once more, I'm sorry this story wasn't completed (and was criminally neglected by reviewers) but thanks so much for the ride. It was wonderful. You have real talent and I hope you find and outlet for it in other stories, if not this one.
FiascoWay chapter 19 . 1/22/2017
I really like how you managed to make GvP a sinister character using simple devices like having her sidle up to Cho.

Lisbon's relief at his nightmare and determination to protect him made my heart break. I don't know what you had in mind for resolving the story, but I hope she makes it through OK.

RJ's visceral response to Jane's challenge is chilling. You have conceived such an evil and disturbing RJ.
FiascoWay chapter 18 . 1/22/2017
Wow. Just wow. Powerful statement and one that RJ would be unable to ignore. That goes for Lisbon too, who is rightly horrified by what she suspects Jane has done. Her hysterical response to Jane's 'alpha male' line was pitch perfect.

I know you haven't finished this story but I'm so involved regardless.
FiascoWay chapter 17 . 1/22/2017
Nice handling of Lisbon's jealousy. I'm not normally a fan of those scenarios but at this point I'm convinced there isn't anything you can't pull off with these characters.

Nice call back to Jane's behaviour when he was trying to break out Lorelei. And THEN Jane shares his plans!
FiascoWay chapter 16 . 1/22/2017
This was such a great chapter. Jane finally lowering his guard and kissing Lisbon was perfect. The only possible antidote to the poison GvP injected (because Lisbon doesn't believe she's appealing to men at all, it's always a surprise).

This is Jane, however, and even when he shows the truth, in part it's to conceal what he has planned. Very nicely done. Of course Lorelei reared her head as well. The parallels are undeniable, though we know Jane would play this very differently.
FiascoWay chapter 15 . 1/22/2017
A rather over the top seduction routine and no surprise Jane isn't taken in. Of course Lisbon would walk in at the worst possible moment, poor woman.
FiascoWay chapter 14 . 1/22/2017
So much disturbing subtext to this chapter. RJ knows just where to attack the weak points of the BVI and it's painful to watch it play out. Knowing GvP is an RJ mole makes it even more disturbing.

Even though Jane suspects what is going on, he's powerless to prevent it from happening.
FiascoWay chapter 13 . 1/22/2017
Really enjoyed Jan'e run in with Abernathy. He must have been off his game, however, to give away so much. The advice at the end was very appropriate, if only Jane could follow it...
FiascoWay chapter 12 . 1/22/2017
Jane nerving himself to become what he hates is so sad. You do a great job of keeping him human, even when he contemplates the horrific. You did the same in the chapter where he nearly attempts suicide and wonders if he is a sociopath, only to conclude (rightly) that he isn't.
FiascoWay chapter 11 . 1/22/2017
Wham! This is such a brilliant change in tack with Van Pelt becoming a willing accomplice. Of course it perfectly fits RJ's MO. Make the victim vulnerable by taking something from them and then moving in to remake them into what you want.

Van Pelt DID have a dark side, so this isn't an outrageous stretch, given RJ's capabilities. Very, very disturbing, however.

Also, RJ's plans of turning the entire team are suitable megalomanic, given who he is.
FiascoWay chapter 10 . 1/22/2017
Nicely played Lisbon! I always enjoyed those rare moments in the show where Lisbon got one over Jane.

This was a chapter of things being left unsaid and you manged it adroitly.
FiascoWay chapter 9 . 1/22/2017
Oh Lisbon, you have become so much more subtle thanks to working with Jane. Her flower based lifeline was so perfectly conceived and true to form. A much needed lighter moment in the story.
FiascoWay chapter 8 . 1/22/2017
From Jane's disturbing plans you slip right into the macabre with the marionette. You do such a great job of building up our dread of what happened to GvP.
