I don't believe I have ever read a story quite like this. I loved how it opened with what almost seemed like an essay, but then melded so beautifully with the story. I have read a lot of injuries to the doctor and yet I've never encountered a gunshot that struck the same place - I love that bit. And Watson's natural hesitation in running into a burning building makes him human, but his choice to go after his friend despite it makes him so much more. Congratulations on a job well done.
