Hell time paradox got me confused all the time

Well it is a great shame that I only bothered to read this story recently.

This story is really something. Gripping and captivating, with top-notch pacing of the characters and plot from the moment I began to read it, you have seemlessly woven Halo and Stephen King's The Dark Tower series together. Almost like they fit like two pieces of a puzzle, both adding up to something more and greater. The forth wall bending nature of the Dark Tower series really suits itself for being crossed over to what ever universe one imagines. And I must admit, I can't look at Halo the same way again. It really does combine well with TDT, and the similarities you have observed are striking.

Halo has tried with the Precursors and Forerunners to explore the concepts of metaphysics and the nature of reality. This story and Civil War has honestly done it better to me, by breaking the fourth wall it brings the nature of the fact that these are fictional tales with their historical and symbolic references to us. Forces us to confront them and join them in a way other stories and methods of story-telling simply cannot. Immersion in a very cerebral sense.

I will be reading The Grye Widens soon. For I am sure that will be a great read like this one.

Well for a history nerd like me, I am a bit disappointed that I did not catch that it was Roosevelt that made the announcement in this chapter. Quite disappointed in myself.

Interesting that they arrived in this world in this time frame. I must say it is nice that even the others like Mathew caught on that those two are unusual, not from around New York and certainly not like anyone of their world in a sense. Not blind to the signs of the odd universe jumpers. Especially Jake, a kid who has experienced potentially decades and his age and maturity shows. He is really one of my favorites next to Roland honestly. Those two are far more interesting than John and Cortana ever have been.

And Cortana has become human, I myself would not choose to have a fallible memory but that is Cortana.

And so the An-tet leaves Mid-world, they deserved that much, as sad as it was for them to separate.

There was something really satisfying and cathartic about Roland reaching the Dark Tower, with all his conviction. Again after so long, for all of them and the reader included. To see him come in the name of those who helped him and the rest of the Ka-tet along their journey. His speech. For him to effectively reach what we have all in a sense labored for. Roland especially.

And lets hope Roland will not be sent away from the Dark Tower.

And so it will fall on Cortana's son to fix the beams, for their is hope for that.

I have not read the recent Halo books, but I honestly prefer John being forced to confront his actions. To consider them in full, the ramifications of his choices, even under orders. His personal journey and growth in this story is better and far more compelling than what the books and games have.

"If you love someone, set them free. If they come back, they’re yours; if they don’t, they never were."

He will never get to be with his family to raise them, such is his atoning sacrifice. But no better love than to lay down ones life for others, or to separate if that is what is best.

Well now, Mordred is dead, Jake may be dead, Roland's arthritis has more or less gotten the better of him and John is back. And a war in heaven has been won.
