Reviews for The Legends of Sherlock Holmes
midnightsnapdragon chapter 13 . 8/4/2016
Ahahahhaha, his record is finally broken, and our story is tied up neatly with that of the Boy Who Lived. I loved all of this - Sherlock healing his soul (*heaves a sigh of relief*), Moriarty redeemed, and especially ... especially the bits of Sherlolly. The moment on the stairs, when she went to hold off the Death Eaters and he kissed her cheek ("Was that a moment, right there, Sherlock?"), and when he was dying of the chest wound and he told her he was sorry, and the last teasing mention of Sherlock being a hypocrite when it came to domestic bliss. Bahaha! I have no doubt that it's not romantic (yet), but that "domestic bliss" is certainly more accurate than one might think.

And the moment in the pub - the healing of their friendship, everything being put right!
I enjoyed this story immensely. Bravo!
midnightsnapdragon chapter 12 . 8/4/2016
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Why oh why?! This is terrible, absolutely terrible. He made a horcrux. Oh my stars. He is good of heart but he made a horcrux. No no no no NO!
Side note: their protectiveness of Molly is heartwarming. Though, like with Mrs. Hudson in canon, Sherlock is inspired to do inhumane things when the people he loves are threatened or hurt. But NO NO ONO NO NO HE MADE A HORCRUX NONO N OO NOON ONO
It MUST be reversed. He MUST feel remorse at the end, to heal himself. It's the only way and I refuse to believe that things will end any differently!
midnightsnapdragon chapter 10 . 8/3/2016
I love it. I love it all. Sherlock's irrational anger, the deep desire for revenge, the grief. The credit you give Molly's character. Mycroft's letter ... a perfect balance of practical and sentimental, and that one allusion to their brotherhood - 'all this seems a far cry from our grandmother's little games'.

I also realise that "this time it's a team game" is probably going to be the next chapter's theme. Sherlock has always counted himself as alone, but he is not and never was, and their experiences during the War must prove that. I love the dramatics and deeper themes in this chapter and story, the buildup, and I'm just going to stop talking now and move on to the next part.
midnightsnapdragon chapter 8 . 8/3/2016
The Holmes brothers ... ah. We see now. Sherlock does care, he always cared, and so did Mycroft, but the both of them have always been too bloody proud to show it or even be on good terms with one another. But now, Sherlock is truly grieving.

I'm glad that Molly loves him and provides some measure of comfort.
midnightsnapdragon chapter 6 . 8/3/2016
Sherlock, while a troubleseeker, has very strong morals. This I see now, especially when coupled with his reprimanding John for bullying the seeker in the Quidditch match - and contrasted with Jim's very loose definitions of what is right. While he sees Voldemort's work and feels desire, even potential, Sherlock is 100% against it - "Dark magic, that does things no one should do ... I'd call it dying every second for the rest of your unending life."
Whispers of doubt, indeed ...
Also, I loved the bit in the beginning where Sherlock about gives Professor McGonagall a heart attack and Transfigures - THRICE. I actually clapped a hand to my mouth in delight. It's just like him, something so shocking and show-offy and amazing.
... I'm really worried for Molly now, considering that she and Jim are a *thing*. I know this is a friendship story but I can't help hoping for a bit of sherlolly. Just a bit? Just a smidgen, maybe if I squint?
midnightsnapdragon chapter 5 . 8/3/2016
Moriarty's inner villain is beginning to show itself - his rant against the rules and 'controlling' atmosphere of Hogwarts, and something in his manner that I can't put my finger on but immediately associate with antagonism.
Also: Sherlock's combination of chemistry and potions is genius and I hope that he goes through with it, fulfills his full potential and more. It would be the perfect career.
Also: the moment of apology. Thank you for including it.

- Molly hufflepuff type ... wonder why not?
I loved those Christmas scenes - it was really and truly heartwarming to think of John, his mother and the Holmes brothers spending the holiday together as a sort of 'extended family' party. Also, I fully support Sherlock being particularly nice around John's mother. Yes.
I love the details you work in - the boys' repeated exclamations of "Hufflepuff!" whenever Molly does or says something unlike a Gryffindor; Jim and Sherlock searching for the Chamber of Secrets (they WOULD do that, the marauders!); John's letter at the end, where he says "Jim is funny and Molly is kind and Sherlock is weird, and I think we make a good team." *lays hand to heart* FRIENDSHIP!
Also, on a side note, I think that Molly is most definitely a Hufflepuff. Hardworking, humble, loyal and loving - she has it all. I'm curious and excited to find out why you wrote her as sorted into Gryffindor - maybe our pathologist will surprise us yet!
midnightsnapdragon chapter 2 . 8/3/2016
I love what you've done so far with the Harry Potter AU! The wandless magic (good call; that WOULD be like Sherlock, to insist on not forgetting wandless magic and actually be better at it), John's aptitude for flying, the sorting - all of it. Interesting, the way you've defined Molly and Moriarty as part of their "group", that they make it "complete", given that they're both almost secondary characters. Actually, Moriarty is entirely on the other side of the rainbow. Molly and Lestrade are the constant secondaries. I hope we'll see the DI's counterpart.

And the crowd goes wiiiiild!
The amount of effort and thought you've put into this is already becoming clear. The writing is very good. I like the portrayal of eleven-year-old-wizard!Sherlock - slightly bratty, mischievous ("he says he can't control it but I'll eat my hat if that's true" / "with that wand you'll be a danger to us all" YES YES EVERYTHING YES), sort of barges in and takes charge, like "you can thank me later." That is so. him.
Anyway, I'm really excited to go on with the story so I'll just end off here. Brava!
Hakim chapter 13 . 2/23/2016
Wonderful story! The merging of the two universes was splendidly done; the characters as true as they could be given the change in back stories, too. I really wish Mycroft had lived though, his death was prophesied but how it came about... how did a fully functional wizard die via harpoon to a near squib?
AnnaAgatha chapter 13 . 12/3/2014
This was really lovely. I do like crossovers, but they are rarely done this well. Sherlock et al. fitted seamlessly into the wizard world and your characters were all so well-rounded. I did really like it. It cost me a day and a half better spend on studying, but is was worth it. Thank you for writing this. :)
BeyondMyReach chapter 13 . 8/27/2014
Amazing crossover. I really liked your story and the characterization. Molly as a Gryffindor is unexpected, but I really like how you knew that yourself, and had the boys constantly point that out as a running joke. In the end, Molly proved herself to be Gryffindor, after all.

Your Mycroft here is very on point. I can really imagine him doing and saying all the things he did in the story. It was so like him to consider saving his own skin first, but in the end, he listened to his little brother as always and changed his mind. Because of this, it was especially heartbreaking when I learn of his demise, since he died doing the right thing.

I'm kinda jumping all over here, but I never imagined you would make Molly, Jim, Sherlock and John into a group. It worked though, and as John had said, it made them feel complete. It's interesting how you made John into an onetime-seer and it was especially interesting to see the group slowly become friends and then separate again. It is all very realistic and the humor that you incorporated in was nice too. I thought it was cool how John ended up watching and experiencing Sherlock's world through his memory.

The ending was lovely, with the happy ending that all deserves. The thing about Sherlock creating a horcrux is fascinating and how John linked Jim to a boy who chose wrongly and was too stubborn to admit it so he just continued down the wrong path. Both Sherlock and Jim are in character, with Sherlock and his arrogance and Jim and his flamboyance. It's nice to see Jim was good, deep down. Anyway, good job and thank you for writing this wonderful piece.
CrazyFM chapter 13 . 8/3/2014
Thank you for this wonderful story, I really enjoyed reading it. I really like the end of the story, because somehow I always liked Jim, I mean besides all that being evil, killing peoĆ¼le thing. I like the idea of them all coming back together in the end.
The idea of Sherlock s record being beoken by Harry made me laugh :-D
Valhara chapter 13 . 7/1/2014
This is a wonderful story and I am surprised it has not gotten more recognition. I absolutely loved the way you wrote this story. It took me back to the first time I read the whole Harry Potter series because of how flawlessly you integrated the beloved characters of Sherlock into that world. It was like reading straight from the work of J.K. Rowling herself that I had to continuously remind myself that the Sherlock characters were not a true part of the original story. All-in-all, beautiful story and extremely well written; I spent a whole day reading it from start to finish and absolutely love it. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
