Okay, gotta say, that whole series did not end at all how I expected. I was seriously almost in tears reading the last few chapters. God, the way you decided to end this was just so cruel, but it was an ending nonetheless; and a good one at that. To be honest, I really wish you would've wrapped everything up with Sam and Gene still together. They just made each other so happy. But, the way you chose was much more realistic than my own bent fantasy, which most likely never would've worked out in the end. Great series, I'm very glad I had the opportunity to read it. I really encourage you to write more of Sam and Gene in a different story, maybe see how things wouldn't worked out if their relationship had gone differently. But I really do hold a lot of respect for this story. Thanks again for the great read.

I know I usually don't review until the last chapter, but this was was just so horribly real that I had to praise you on it. Your imagery and feelings in both the dream and real life are so vivid. Sam's feelings and emotions are so well constructed that I really could feel what he was feeling. Especially considering the fact that I've had my share of nightmares, I think you did a wonderful job portraying it.

I suddenly had the thought that if Sam were injured, and one of the others found that scrap of the note from Gene, it could cause problems... lovely Sam, over-thinking as usual. Lovely - just lovely.

Sam is being so sensible here, but it's so sad... I love that they had this 'last date' to savour - it's something probably every one would love the chance to have, isn't it. Ah boys...

This part made me feel so sad - I could kind of see where I thought this was heading and I was going 'No, no, please don't Sam...' to myself all the way through it...

For a minute or two I thought you were going all AU on us, LOL - blimey that was a really scary dream sequence! No wonder poor Sam was freaked out by it. I love how you'd interwoven 2006 and 1973 It feels like the beginning of the end, somehow...

Wow - I really thought they were going to fall out in spectacular style at one point! Another fabulous chapter - and very hot, too!

The sense of danger (of discovery) when Sam and Gene are in CID is almost palpable here. I can't help wondering what Chris or Ray or Annie would think if they were to find out about Sam and Gene's relationship. Hey, maybe that could be a little standalone fic - perhaps in the form of a-dream-within-a-dream-within-a-coma...wouldn't it would be interesting to see how Sam's subconscious might deal with the possibility, especially if he doesn't realise that he's dreaming until almost the end...? So, have I tempted you into writing it yet?! *hopes* :-)

Aahhhh... what a fabulous trilogy this has been! Really and truly, I've enjoyed this ride immensely. I should have reviewed each chapter as I read them but I was so keen to get to the next - I'll pop back now and do just that, but I just wanted to say thanks for posting this, and I really hope that you write more Sam/Gene soon!

Talk about bitter-sweet! This chapter is possibly my favourite so far. Gene's disappointment conveyed so beautifully. Such a Sam thing to do. I'm going to re-read it now
