KisaraP chapter 1 . 12/12/2012
Aww! This was so sweet! I love how Harry is so much in character, even in the very beginning and does his best to be a good person and stick up for someone in need!
I also very much liked the originality of the story particularly regarding 'the hook' - meaning, the event that causes a change in direction of Harry's and Severus's prior relationship. Harry as a Weasley Product Semi-Ghost who eavesdrops on Sev! Muaha! Sev should be LUCKY that Harry didn't end up seeing him (Sev) 'doing anything else'. ;)

It was so touching to see Sev talking to a picture of Lily and telling her all his troubles and concerns.

I'm happy that Harry took Sev's confession (both the somewhat ambiguous one and the explicit one) so well. In fact, it really sounds very matter-of-fact:

["I don't think she would be shocked."

It was Severus' turn to gasp when two arms enfolded him in a tight embrace and he found himself pressed against Harry's warm body.

OOO

Harry acted on pure instinct.]:

So the 'pure instinct' is definitely a 'Gryffindor Trait' in my opinion, so that's awesomely in character. And also, I like how Harry tries to alleviate Sev's concerns about what Harry's mother would think Before saying what he himself thinks. I suppose this was a pretty smart thing to do; so Sev won't feel so guilty.

At first, I thought this would end in a quick sex-scene, but I like how you actually chose NOT to go that route - it just makes the scene even sweeter.

Hmm... I guess Sev wanted to avoid 'the bed' at all costs; hence the armchair and the couch... And Sev is such a gentleman, letting Harry take the couch! Aw but poor Sev; I hope he doesn't have any kinks in his neck... er... yeah... his neck...

Hah! I loved the 'bread and water' threat too! But I was like: Hey! That's not too shabby! Some people go hungry! Bread and water is a feast! And then I was like: Awww, poor Harry! He probably got even less than that from the Dursleys! Waaaaa! But I guess Harry was amused by the comment, so that's good. :)

On another note, I loved this passage:
[ Harry was very sure that Fred and George's latest sweet, Ghostly Gumdrops would be a bestseller at school once they started selling them… that is, if Hermione didn't find and confiscate them first.

The twins might think that they were asking too much of Harry to test their newest invention after he had given them his Triwizard Tournament winnings last year, but he insisted on volunteering. ]
LOLS! Harry is a very very brave soul indeed to be willing to be the FIRST to try out the Weasley products! I can't imagine what St. Mungo's must go through with all their testing of their products. Soon there'll be an entire division of St. Mungo's devoted to curing all mishaps regarding Weasley Products!

Again, this was such a sweet story, very well done too for Halloween! Thanks so much for sharing!

YenGirl chapter 1 . 11/1/2012
You’re welcome, my dear! This story was such a delight to read, to beta and of course, to review! :D

The idea of the Ghostly Gumdrops is an original one… I’ve certainly never read any other fanfic utilising this concept. It shows (other than your talent at writing) that the twins are really skilled at what they do and that they don’t need to sit for their NEWTS to be successful in life. Which is good because they didn’t! *giggles*

Seriously though, I can’t begin to imagine the the effect these sweets will have in the Wizarding world and the Muggle one if Fred and George go ahead and market them! O.O Heart attacks all over the place… accidental confessions… overhearing secrets… passing through locked doors… *shudders* Perhaps Hermione should confiscate them after all :p

Well, unless you’re planning to turn this lovely one shot into a series, then I’ll help by kidnapping Hermione and keeping her in a room somewhere with food, drink and a tall stack of books to keep her occupied in the meantime! *grins*

Typical of Harry, wanting to have some fun teasing the younger students, only to feel righteous indignation at Jack’s prejudiced comments! *glares at clueless Jack while tapping foot on the floor*

Ooh, Severus is here and being nicely snarky and… only does he have to attribute every silly and noisy behaviour to Gryffindors? *coughs*prejudiced!*coughs* They’re not all like that, you know! *glares at Potions Master while tapping the other foot on the floor *

Jack and his group are definitely firsties, otherwise they would know that their Head of House would never give them detention, unless their misdemeanours are witnessed by the Head of another House!

What’s that, Harry? A strange wish, you say? *grins* Nothing strange about it, I was curious to find out more too when I first read of that scene in Book 4…

Severus thinking that misbehaving students are more troublesome than fooling Voldemort made me giggle, it sounds like the Dark Lord has gone soft! *blinks away an image of Voldemort puttering around in his bedroom and getting ready for bed dressed in a pastel nightshirt, fluffy pink bunny slippers and hugging a huge teddy bear while Nagini sulks alone in a corner*

I do hope that Sev will get to do what he likes best, perhaps puttering around in a lovely cottage somewhere, brewing and researching all day long and only stopping when Harry yells for him to come to dinner before everything gets cold (perhaps with a warning that he will sleep on the couch alone if he doesn’t! :D)

Aw, skinny arms, an inferiority complex and stoic forbearance – a perfect representation of Severus Snape and as always, Schattengestalt, your writing makes it a lovely, sigh-worthy, drool-worthy picture of the man! I’m not at all surprised that Harry tried to touch those bruises… even though he probably only wanted to confirm what he was seeing. For now.

And this is the part that inspired me, Severus’ thoughts of Lily… his ever present guilt and remorse so beautifully written… and oh dear, thinking so little of himself and selling himself short like that! *purses lips and starts tapping foot again, the first one*

Even though his angst was painful to read, it was delicious, especially when his thoughts wandered over to Harry. How different they are when he’s by himself! None of those cold glares and cruel jibes at the poor boy, just an honest, heart warming admission to Lily. Aw…. *melts onto the carpet*

I really hope that after this episode, Sev doesn’t have to resort to drinking scotch by himself everytime there is a celebration or a school feast… because Harry will be around to keep him smiling and cheerful! *sparkly eyes at the thought*

Harry’s POV was wonderful to read. Your Harry always has compassion and he shows it here whether it’s knowing he, Ron and Hermione might be asked to help Hagrid with one of his ‘fanged and clawed projects’ *chuckles* or whether it’s his wince when he saw Sev’s bruises.

But it’s all right, Harry *tries to pat his back consolingly and ends up with a freezing cold hand* It’s perfectly logical that you would think of Snape as a greasy bat one moment and a graceful panther the next! *tries to keep a straight face and fails when her wide grin insists on appearing*

It’s also perfectly logical that you would want Sev to have genuine feelings for you… ugh! *shivers when Harry blushes, glares and puts a hand through her stomach* Oi! I’m trying to help you! *pouts*

Poor Severus! *winces and chuckles at the same time, resulting in weird expression on her face* Good thing he’s got a strong constitution otherwise he might have gotten a heart attack when Harry appeared before him like a ghost! I loved his words, thinking he had failed Harry (and Lily) by not being around to save Harry’s life! I loved his thoughts after that too, see-sawing between relief that Harry was still alive, chagrin that Harry had heard his confession and wanting to confess it all… *happy sigh*

Well, I don’t know… *looks thoughtful* Voldemort might not look so bad in a pastel nightdress with bunny slippers and hugging – ow! *is hexed by a glowering Severus while Harry looks at him interestedly*

OK, OK… just tell Harry already, Sev! Do you really think such a courageous young man would flee just because his strict and cold Potions Master likes him? *rolls her eyes and taps her other foot again* Well, er… any other young man might *is thinking of Neville* but not our Harry!

By the way, I loved how you stated how a typical student from each House might act upon hearing Sev’s confession, and I especially loved how Harry’s differed from how his Housemates might have acted. Go, go Harry!

I also loved how he didn’t just feel compassion, but something else. *happy sigh* Of course we are all hoping what that something else might be, but the time’s not right for that now. Later perhaps… when Harry continues to mature and learns more about Sev. *mumbles ‘and that’s why we might need a sequel’ behind her hand*

Sev’s confession was lovely, even though he had steeled himself for the very worst. It just made Harry’s warm hug even sweeter! *smiles goofily at them and wonders if she can have her turn to pet Severus’ soft hair as well*

You know, when Harry told Sev that he liked his hair, I was afraid that it would end with the insecure Potions Master shouting and not listening to Harry’s explanations and pushing him out the door… thank Merlin it didn’t happen like that! Harry’s disarming honesty wins again! *cheers him on* Go, go Harry!

And how could Harry be afraid of Sev when he took the trouble to remind Harry of their age difference without prompting, when he didn’t threaten him or even kiss him? *hides a pout* No wonder Harry no longer feared him! *changes pout to a happy sniffle and a smile*

The morning after – innocent as it was – was cute! I’m not at all surprised that Severus has a hangover and feels like he must come to his senses and do the ‘right thing’, that is, send Harry on his way.

You worded it beautifully, Sev likening Harry to a ghost turned boy and how he had to leave the cold dungeons and leave him all alone… and then it became even lovelier, because after Sev saw that cheerful smile and heard that cheerful greeting, he started nursing a tiny hope in his heart that Harry would bring him along! *happy squeal*

Aw… you’re quite the romantic, aren’t you, Sev? Despite what you think? *smiles at him and is glared at by blushing Potions Master* It’s not a bad idea at all and you are hereby ordered to pursue it to the very best of your ability! *gives him a stern look that is ignored as Sev goes to his kitchen*

Now let’s go see the delicious breakfast that Harry’s cooking for you… *tiptoes after Sev*

A lovely Halloween offering, my dear! It made me smile… and tear up… and cheer… and hope! *mumbles ‘for a sequel’ behind her hand*
Sheankelor chapter 1 . 10/31/2012
I like the ghost Harry, and his treatment of Jack. Of course the fact that he would have fled before Snape's glare was a nice phrasing. And the way Severus just up and offered him scotch was perfect. Severus had to be tipsy at least for him to do that.

Thanks for the story, it was a good one for the evening.
patheticboneslover chapter 1 . 10/31/2012
