Loved this. Great work with his emotions and the descriptions of the context and events - I didn't remember at first what happened in 2.8, but it got cleared up quickly.

I agree with you that this is one of those moments where Merlin really sacrifices, because everything else is for a /cause/, but this is for /Arthur/, and there is a difference. Love the twisted feelings he has about Uther; you captured his anger and disgust well.
