A hauntingly beautiful story, almost surprising in its realism of pain and forgiveness. Your depictions are so shaded, especially Gale, that there's no true black/white side that I identify with. His frustration, the details about selkie life, her acceptance about her father, and her tea-pond swimming are all perfectly conveyed.

Did he ask you to throw half yourself away? You are absolutely worth more than mistreatment and yet you allowed yourself to be made a slave and even longed for it. He didn't do anything wrong here. Katniss did and should get the lionshare of any blame. She made her own choices and decisions and never had to atone really. Peeta should have left and she should have been the one to come after him. Why should he beg her to stay when she only returned because she was pregnant with a human. "Everlark" yeah right.

This Katniss is hard to take. Totally unlike able. She takes no responsibilities for her own actions and decisions and always acts the victim. She never redeems herself in this story. She moves from one situation to another as though she has no choice or agency but then somehow only finds her backbone when she's with Peeta. This shouldn't be an everlskr story. This should be Katniss ending up alone.
