Brilliant :) good writing, a lot of genuine and in-character and convincing emotions, which you're very perceptive for pinpointing. Loving the Doctor's, "Why is it my job to keep the universe spinning?".

Yep. This is pretty much what I pictured the Doctor's reaction would be when I heard the Ponds were leaving.

Having only just recently seen the "The Angels Take Manhattan," this scene of course hits harder than the average reaction to explorations of "missing" moments from the show. However, I think River's pleas to the Doctor contain an extra bit of irony which has gone pretty much unaccounted for during the last couple of series...what with the Doctor knowing how River will die/become part of the Library Planet's AI and how she makes the sacrifice.

So...to say it simply: this is utterly fantastic, and I bow to your skill at capturing characters as complex and the Doctor and River Song so well :D
