Umm... why does everyone speak like an overly-eloquent pop-up book with very little use of contractions like "don't", "you're", "I'm" or "can't"? Nobody talks like this in real life let alone a Final Fantasy game (minus people like Caius, Ardyn, or Ravus given their formal, haughty personalities), especially not people as blunt and curt-tongued as Light or Fang. It just comes off as silly at best and pompous at worst, even for a Royalty AU.

Also, I get he's supposed to be improving later in the story, but Noctis is WAY too unlikable as a protagonist here. It's one thing for your main character to start out rough, but then there's just downright mean-spirited and insufferable with no hint of charming or pleasant traits to fall back on, which makes it impossible for someone to care how they end up by the end (or whom they end up with for that matter, bc as much as I ship Lightis, I am in no way convinced of their chemistry here past inexplicable spontaneous lust given Noctis is an atomic asshole and Lightning like the rest of the cast no longer has a memorable personality and is just reduced to your typical "'strong' queen who hates girly things because femininity apparently weak girl [which it REALLY doesn't, by the way, even if that's not what you were trying to imply since it can still sadly come off as such], and is said to be lonely despite it barely being shown").

The thing is, the concept of this story is incredibly promising, but the execution is... lackluster. Very lackluster and at times just plain frustrating. If you were to rewrite this with a better grasp on characterization (especially now that XV has been out for some years now; again, I fully understand this is written pre-release) and WAY less purple prose in both narration and dialogue, it'd sparkle given how phenomenal the detail put into the world-building is. For now, however... it still needs plenty of work.
