ok rereading this now. holy jeez it’s been seven years since this started? I miss it

So good, 10/10 so so so good. Not only did it have a good plot but it was written well and made my heart go all mushy.

OMG so I have to say this story is amazing! I've been reading it all weekend and initially I had intended to place reviews after all chapters I found particularly exciting (but guess what, someone spilled water on their home laptop and now the keyboard got rather fucked up and scrambling the letters so writing anything is kind of a pain... :/) So anyway, here I am reviewing this at work. I usually enjoy crime fics and so I found this one quite exciting (and of course well written). I love the Victorian atmosphere and again man, kudos for putting so much work into researching historical details, it's just amazing and you're one of the very few authors who actually do that. Also, is it just me or Mr. Puffin is a bit of a pain in the ass? :)))) (kinda passive-aggressive, like). As for using Prussia as the bad guy, I am a fan of Gilbert but I do think he was quite well-chosen for the part, he does have what it takes and the plot is really credible as far as he's concerned. Furthermore and unlike others I've been talking to, I don't believe that having a favorite character means you should be against villain-izing them - it simply shows that they're complex and versatile enough and that they have potential, since not everyone can make a credible negative character (not strictly canon-wise anyway). Okay, there were many more things I appreciated (like you not killing the King of Trolls for example ;))))) but it's hard to remember all of them. In conclusion, great job with this!

Wow, making Ivan and his sisters small kids was quite unexpected, as well as the others. It's nice to see Tino and Berwald so kind and it figures Mathias would be good with kids, he's pretty much a kid himself. I wonder what happens next and I hope the saying 'no good deed goes unpunished' will not apply in this case...
