That was beautiful! I read it twice through because, yeah, I thought it was Kate the first time. I normally find fics with babies too sappy, (which is a little hypocritical since I just wrote an epilogue with one, but it was a challenge for that same reason) but, this captured perfectly that fierce devotion parents feel, and the third paragraph in particular was very powerful and made me wish my kids were little again, just for a day. Well done and thank you for writing & posting this gem.
