Eric chapter 3 . 5/29/2019 Reviewing Chapter 3 side notes about the MAC guns possessed by the former UNSC. A 600 ton slug is in no way shape or form a quarter of the ships mass. A modern 20th century US aircraft carrier is approximately 100,000 tons, measuring a little over 330 meters in length. A post-war Strident class heavy frigate is 575 meters. If it holds the same weight to size ratio as a modern US aircraft carrier (it probably doesn't but that's what we have to go off of) then it's weight / displacement would be 174,225 tons for a Strident class heavy frigate. For perspective the UNSC Infinity, using the weight to length ratio of US aircraft carriers, would weigh 1,725,382 tons. These figures are likely low as UNSC ships are made with far thicker armor of far heavier materials and are larger as they're more cylindrical than flat top like current ships, being designed for the 3d battlefield of space rather than flat plane of the ocean. A 600 ton slug makes PERFECT sense for ships of that tonnage. |

abraxas01 chapter 1 . 2/21/2019 I just thought I should point this out, a PHOBIA is an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something. The hatred shown by certain humans directed at Sangheli is neither a phobia, or irrational. They had just come out of a war that lasted over 25 years and that saw BILLIONS of humans murdered by those Sangheli. A EXTREME amount of anger/fear is COMPLETELY rational. Doesn't matter that the Sangheli were lied to in order to get them to commit those crimes. |

Mathiasosx chapter 4 . 10/16/2018 Sorry for the double post not used to reviewing on my phone. I know this story is relatively old an inactive. But did you do any research on UNSC ships. 600 tonnes seems too big for a Mac round? I'll just compare the Paris class heavy frigate's size to that of an Iowa class. The Paris is 535m long, 199m wide and 112.3 tall. The Iowa is 270.43m long, is 32.97m at it's widest and a draft of 11.51m putting it's height about 30-35m. Just on these numbers alone the Paris has 41 times the internal volume of the Iowa. Which displaces 57500 tonnes. Also the Iowa uses an all or nothing armour scheme which means it's plating varies from 16mm to 495mm on the turret front. So let's assume the Paris is made entirely from titanium. Based on realtime volume and assuming the Iowa weighs less than it's displacement we can assume the Paris weighs approximately 1.1million metric tonnes (I'm almost certainly lowballing this.) But I haven't taken the uniformly 600mm thick armour into account. Which almost doubled the frigate's mass. Putting it at a lowballing figure of 2.1 million metric tonnes empty. Multiple 600 tonne slugs doesn't really sound that much compared to that does it. So if you're using halo ships. The data for which is readily available. Do your research and depict them correctly. |
