I've never been a Draco fan, but I loved your fiction! Your characterization of him was great, you made him seem real (more than JK ever did IMO) and Astoria was a perfect match for him.

If I could favorite this a thousand times I would do it gladly. What a beautiful fic you deserve hundreds of reviews for this, your total understanding of Draco character is so awesome, you nailed it! I love your portrayal of Astoria too, one of my favorites so far.

"Vulnera Sanetur" is a healing spell, so that wouldn't have hurt Malfoy. Snape used that to heal Draco after Harry hit him with Sectumsempra, a slashing spell in HBPrince. Is that what you meant here or something different?

This is a highly underread fanfic, in my opinion. You wrote it beautifully, stuck well to cannon while still developing your characters, and made the entire thing engaging. Props to you, truly.

You mentioned in an author's note you've never felt any particular affinity for Draco Malfoy which in a way, made this that much better to read, because you were under no delusions about Draco Malfoy's ability to repent. And it's refreshing to see a story about Draco which isn't about how much of a "changed man" he is, but takes a more realistic route. Basically, he's still him, but now the whole world doesn't love and/or fear him. It was great, I enjoyed it.
Also, ASTORIA. I looooove it when people take secondary, or background characters and develop them because it's so interesting to see what people come up with and Astoria is so great in this. Also the fact that she's canon is great because, I mean, don't get me wrong, Dramione has it's place in my heart, but this is such a good depiction of how that could have gone without resorting to "only the golden Gryffindor Princess can save the evil Slytherin Prince's dark heart." or some other such nonsense.
I could go on for ages (I basically loved every character that got involved, Katie and Marcus came completely out of left field and I freaking loved it, Neville was another nice surprise) but the basic thing I'm getting at here was this was super enjoyable to read and very different and I liked it a lot.
So, thank you very much for writing this. :)

So I may have reread the whole story before writing this review in the hopes of having something intelligent to say.

Because this was a truly lovely story from beginning the end. I really think you did Draco justice without leather-pantsing him. He is still a deeply flawed human being, and he'll never quite manage to get away from his past - but he's trying to be a better person, and that counts for something.

I loved Draco's conversation with Narcissa. I loved how he tried for three hours to reason with her and butter her up. But it's not until he admits that he's in love that she relents. (I almost have to wonder if Draco, at the end of that, wondered if this entire conversation would have been much shorter if he'd just admitted that from the get-go.)

And I do love how we kind of come full circle with the kneeling - kneeling before Voldemort (being forced to) and kneeling before Astoria.

All in all, thanks for this story. I loved it. :)
