Efrite chapter 31 . 3/30/2017 I positively adored this fic. I'm sad to see it go but I'm glad you provided a detailed accounting for closure. Thank you for writing it. :) |
Guest chapter 31 . 3/16/2017 Xazz, great conclusion to PH! Thank you for sharing this and the fillers on your blog! So much sadness! Kanwai's tragic death. Sef's death at about 13 if I guessed the ages and timeline right. The destruction of the fortress. Altair cheating on Rauf with Malik. Adha's death while she was pregnant. (So she and Altair had perfect resonance?) Since Desmond can't join Alpha, what does he do with his life, besides create fertile children with Lucy? Though I can see the Order not wanting to risk his life in the field. The fillers on your blog explaining details just enriches this experience and I thank you so much for sharing all of that with us. How you keep it all straight even writing it down is fabulous. Thank you for Pro Human, Xazz. You took us on one heck of a ride, and I enjoyed every second of it. You are an incredible author, Xazz. Best wishes with your all of your writing endeavours now and in future. :) |
Guest chapter 31 . 3/15/2017 Wow, now I ship Altair and Mira! So much potential... she adores him and I never realized before you revealed his relationship with Adha that he was bisexual (or is he pansexual?). Sorry, Xazz, I know you said no ships of that pair, but it's too good! Plus, Kaley and Altair having a baby together makes me all gooey inside. Ever since he fathered Desmond in Tincture with Kaley, I've been desperate to see those two together again! Thank you for dropping a few hints about their fate in PH, Xazz. Also, after realizing Desmond was forming a bond with a strange adult because he was starved for time and attention, did he make more effort to be with Desmond? Sef's untimely death is shattering. I'm surprised Rauf would want to risk having another child at all, much less with Altair. The fear of losing another child would be crippling, I'd think. What is it with Cain always being a captured prisoner when Altair is around? Granted, it wasn't Altair's fault this time. Also, thank you for posting your notes on your writing blog, Xazz, and I especially found your character lists and roles enlightening. Thank you for finishing PH as much as possible, Xazz, and letting us glimpse into your mind about the future of the characters and background of the characters and the fortress. Take care. :) |
Guest chapter 31 . 3/14/2017 Wow, Xazz. Exciting and heart breaking all in one go! The destruction of the fortress was almost a given since they had the exact same set up as the European and Middle Eastern fortresses. Will the Assassins ever root out the Templars in a similar way? Sally's death just tore me up. Poor Sarah, left without her twin, literally they came from one egg and were the same person however briefly. At least she had Micheal and their son. A happy ending for that pair! I love Kaley being sort of a mother figure for Desmond. Your Tincture chapter where she and Altair conceive and raise Desmond is literally my favorite Kaley chapter in your entire saga. She's strong and brave and look out to anyone who threatens her babies. That she and Altair have a child here seems right. Are you planning to do anymore Katair chapters in Tincture or Legacy? Not begging; no worries. Just curious? Sef's death was too painful... thinking of Rauf carrying the sleeping 6 year old to his bed, of Sef literally walking over the obstacle of the table to reach his fathers, of Darim visiting his baby brother in the nursery, of Altair's excitement when Rauf agrees on a name for the baby about to be born and all of their hopes for Sef's future... this little life that joined their lives together as one... no. Too painful. :( Xazz, thank you for all the tidbits you've posted on your blog. You've given us fascinating insight into the Australian Assassins and the EVs and the elevator/floor hierarchy of the Fortress. Like your other reviewers have said, I can't thank you enough for giving us this closure on your story that we've loved for years. The Sad Event was painful to read... knowing had torn apart Rauf would be by this. So glad he and Altair didn't break up forever over this. The love and family they spent years building was the heart of your story to me. Though I do hope Malik managed to find some happiness. I can only imagine Altair's panic at the thought of Sawsan leaving for her pilgrimage after Sef's death. Rauf probably had to have him sedated in order for her to get out of the newly built fortress. Thank you for sharing Cain and Daniel's escape and years afterward. #1 Cain fan talking here! Ok, thank you again for finishing Pro Human and giving us a glimpse of how life turned out for everybody. For the last time, I'll give you a Top Ten Xazz Pick List for Pro Human! Rauf and Altair, 1 Maelin and Bo, 2 Sarah and Micheal, 3 Kaley, 4 (love how she cherished Desmond) Jari and Diyari , 5 Chris and Kanwai, 6 (sad love story) Malik, 7 Desmond, Darim, and Sef, 8 (sobs inconsolably about Sef) Tiamat, 9 ('cause really, she's too evil and manipulative not to love) Mira, 10 Thank you, Xazz. |
Guest chapter 31 . 3/14/2017 Gurgles of happiness. Just caught the update on your blog and came over here to check out your last chappie. Even though it's the end of PH, you thrilled me with Sarah and Micheal having a two year old son, Xazz. They finally get to be a family! Sweet! Ahh, the lost love of Sarah and Micheal Hart. THE love story of Flocking Movement, as far as I'm concerned. True love ripped apart by forces beyond death itself. Yet they never let go of their love for each other. Sarah lived her life to the fullest, but she never let that candle flame go out that was Hawk. Here they get that happily ever after and I can't help but thank you for that, Xazz. Thank you for your marvellous story. As one reviewer said, the 31 chappies you've crafted are far longer than many of your completed fics. So thank you for your kindness at sharing your craft with us and for all the care and consideration you gave us by giving us an ending to PH. Big hugs! |
Guest chapter 31 . 3/14/2017 i just saw your message, xazz, and wanted to thank you for all of the kindness and hard work you've devoted to pro human these last few years. it absolutely makes sense that this story is so old, you've outgrown it. the game mythos is holding you back on this one, unlike flocking movement or back for more, where you have pretty much free reign to do as you wish. i've enjoyed this fic enormously and thank you for all of the pleasure you've provided to your readers. that said, may i take this moment to scream SEF! adorable little sef dies before his parents! my heart is utterly shattered! i can't even imagine the fallout for his family. sef, darim, and desmond were three of my faves and i...sighs brokenly. furthermore, THE SAD EVENT! omg, xazz, all of your hints over the years couldn't have prepared me for reading that chapter on your blog when altair cheats on his beloved rauf with malik. while i understand their attraction, rauf if the one who adores altair and puts up with his moods and his nonsense. rauf loves altair inspite of himself. love is so rare and precious... i can only imagine altair must want to die that he damaged the love of the two people who loved him unconditionally... rauf and adha. pro human has been phenomenal from start to finish, xazz. thank you. you're an amazing and kind author. thanks for giving us this final closure on your story. :D |
Guest chapter 31 . 3/13/2017 Eyes grow wide. Wow. Uh... I might need a few days to read and process all of this, Xazz, but I promise I'll put up a review soon. You deserve closure, too, regarding what your readers think of the amazing effort you put into this fic. Thank you for offering us this closure; you're beyond gracious and I thank you for ending Pro Human with what amounts to an Epilogue. For all of the years and tears you put into this, thank you. Enjoy your other amazing stories, as we all do, and be well. :) |
Guest chapter 30 . 3/6/2017 Yolo! Altair is the ultimate micromanager! Not that I blame him, given the horrors he suffered on his pilgrimage that you've hinted at. Such a loss of control over one's life and environment would leave deeper scars than those on Ehan's and Munahid's faces. he's needs control to feel safe. To protect all four of his children. To protect Rauf. To protect his Alpha kids. Is that why he's so hard on Munahid? Muna is the first one to become a parent other than Altair, I think? Now that he has a baby to love and raise, he needs to learn how to lead, to protect. To live. I felt so badly when you wrote that Kanwai's genes had been blackballed. Could she still go to Society and request a child there, without the Brotherhood's permission? Could she raise it there, and still be an Assassin? Long ago you said not all the members live in the Fortress. Kanwai already doesn't accept the Brotherhood's belief that she would amount to nothing. Would they let her? How can Altair build a cohesive team when Kanwai can't see past her own goals? On this note, Xazz, I read your updated blog this evening regarding Pro Human. You wrote you may cancel this fic because you're not connecting with it anymore. I respect your feelings completely and accept your decision. No begging, I promise. Let me just say you have been a wonderful and gracious writer for Pro Human fans and we appreciate the 30 chapters you have gifted us with. That is more than many of your completed fics. I love every word you've written here, especially the parts with Cain. I do regret we may never see the outcome of his involvement in Pro Human or the truth about the children, but I accept that and thank you for the lovely fic. Others have given you their top picks of your fics, and please allow me to do the same as I read several of your stories. Pro Human: 1 Rauf, 2 Altair, 3 Maelin, 4 Lucy, 5 Haytham (Lucy's Haytham), 6 Diyari and Jari, 7 Desmond, 8 Ezio, 9 Munahid, 10 Cain (shocking, I know, a list where Cain isn't #1 or 2. Flocking Movement: 1 Cain (sorry, love him there), 2 Duncan, 3 John, 4 Baldur, 5 Desmond, 6 Altair, 7 Kaley, 8 Jake/Jacob, 9 Hawk and Sarah, 10 Ezio. Zealous Servant: 1 Rhodon, 2 Helida, 3 Vondugard, 4 Tassa, 5 Cati, 6 Spayar, 7 Calli, 8 DiSol, 9 Mali, 10 Relora and Spayar Sr. Lovely fics and original work, Xazz. Thank you for sharing them with us. Bless. |
Guest chapter 30 . 1/22/2017 In a way I sort of see the struggle Altair faces with Alpha. He’s trying to work on team building here, yet these are Assassins. Historically, don’t they tend to be lone wolves, taking on solo missions more than team assignments. In the fortress, families don’t live together, even if they’re as involved as Rauf and Altair are with their children. Although, since the apocalypse, it seems like they’ve become more co-dependent for survival out of necessity. It doesn’t help that Kanwai is a lone wolf personality and that Sally only ever really had to work with Sarah growing up. Will they be able to adapt to a team setting to the degree that Altair wants? Furthermore, is it any wonder that Kanwai doesn’t feel like she’s part of the team when she’s already been singled out by the Order for having a genetic disorder and told she has will not be allowed to reproduce and that nothing was expected from her because of her challenges? She was set up from birth to exist apart from the group, to never be fully included. (I wonder if this is how Petruchio feels? You mentioned that Giovanni’s fourth child was sickly and as such it seems unlikely he’ll be allowed to reproduce or have much expected of him. I hope Desmond and Tazim befriend him because I think you mentioned Petruchio should be their age-mate and in their level. I bet they’d help him become more.) Then there’s the problem of Sally’s twin co-dependence on Sarah, and Sarah’s to a lesser extent on Sally. I felt so badly for Sally when her cat was the only living creature that Rauf and Achilles could find for her to resonate with. Meanwhile Sarah has Micheal. Then there’s Munahid. At least he understands his failings. Harsh, but what can he do? They have to find a way to work together. What would Altair do if Mario disbanded the current Alpha team? He’d be crushed, at the very least. Huh. This is making me very sorry for the Australian Assassins. They’re forcing Cain in, but he is not exactly team player material. More like the ultimate lone wolf. Of course, even then, he hates being alone and cares for strays like Daniel. Or Abel in Flocking Movement. Pro Human is wonderful, Xazz. Thank you for the time and effort you’ve devoted to it. :) |
Guest chapter 28 . 1/22/2017 Whoa! I totally (and respectfully) disagree with the last reviewer. No way Daniel is in the worst mess of the kids. LUCY is the kid whose in the most trouble; she fell into the nest of Templars and it doesn't seem like she meant to end up there. Are these kids like the synthetic angels in Flocking Movement? Is that why the Assassins and Templars are so desperate to have them? Because they're genetically pure, complete new bloodlines? That would be a huge boost to the Australian Assassins who appear to be losing their genetic diversity. I hope the last reviewer is right and Cain busts them wide open to the other Assassins. He'd be doing them a favor in the long run. Plus, total bonus seeing Tiamat defend the decision of the Australian mentors to abandon the world to the other Assassins and focus inward. Would love to be a fly on the wall for that conversation. Altair might not get to sit in on that one, but I bet Rauf would. He's in line to be Mentor should anything happen to Mario and needs to be in the know. Will Lucy escape the Templars or will she grow up with them? How will Daniel unite with the other kids if he's stuck in isolationist Australia? Plus, didn't Altair once explain that if Assassins chose not to return to the Order after their Pilgrimage was over, the Order cut them free and never bothered them again? Why take Cain in? They could've left him in the Outback. He knew nothing about them and couldn't betray their existence at that time. Or maybe they wondered if he knew something about Daniel? Either way, I don't think the other Fortresses would approve of this decision to force Cain into the Assassins. Or maybe they would; they don't seem to hesitate to snatch these kids up when they get the chance. Awesome post-apocalyptic future story, Xazz. Thanks! |
Guest chapter 28 . 1/21/2017 Poor Daniel seems to have stumbled into the worst mess of all the kids. The fact that the only way he could influence his situation was to resort to a hunger strike breaks my heart, Xazz. The fact that it took Daniel's life being threatened before they would concede and actually listen to what Daniel wanted is tragic. The Australian Assassins say they're protecting Australians from outside threats; but whose protecting the people of Australia from THEM? It seems like they have a stranglehold on the populace. And if I don't miss my guess, the Australian Assassins are failing. Not at their isolationist view of the world, but the population themselves. You wrote their fortress went dark over a century earlier, Xazz. Which likely means they haven't been able to add in fresh Assassin blood in that time. The bloodlines must be growing weak; the family ties becoming too close. No wonder they want Daniel and Cain so badly. Fresh blood to try and bolster their ranks and breed stronger children. A few, anyway. I bet Tiamat knows the bloodlines are failing, too. Cain and Daniel are temporary measures. What is awesome is that the Australian fortress seems to be a matriarchal society. I know it's normally called the Brotherhood of Assassins, and that women are included. Is it called the Sisterhood of Assassins with men included in the Australian realm? Also, if they think Cain is going to take this forced assimilation laying down, I bet they'll regret it. If nothing else, I bet he and Daniel will find a way to alert the Chinese or North American fortresses that the Australian fortress is still going strong, if only to get back at Tiamat for keeping them there. It'd be good for them all anyway. Genetic relief, as Altair once said when the European Assassins assimilated with the North American Assassins after their fortress fell. Ah, well. Absolutely love Pro Human. Thank you, Xazz. I was just reading a review over at FM, and realized I don't think I've ever done top 10 xazz pick lists! I must fix that! Pro Human: Cain, 1. Rauf, 2. Altair, 3, Sef, 4.(after the kid conquered his problem by literally walking over the table to his fathers, he zoomed way up on my personal list!). Maelin, 5. Sarah, 6. (Yay to Sarah and Micheal! HAWK forever! Can you tell I'm also one of your FM fans?) Diyari and Jari, 7. Desmond, 8. Tiamat, 9. Chris, 10. (After the way he protected Lisa, he wins a spot on my list!) You rock, Xazz! |
Guest chapter 28 . 12/22/2016 Yolo! CAIN! YEA! Cain shows up and I'm hooked. Love it! Thank you, Xazz! And Tiamat and the Australian Assassins are very misguided if they think they can force this dude to just assimilate. I don't doubt Cain can become and ace Assassin, but he is not the type to take this laying down quietly. They can force him to take on a new life, open his eyes to new things. But Cain likes to stir the pot. They may force him to join, but Cain may force them to do more. Like break open the closed fortress they seem to have guarded so fiercely for the last century and expose them to the other Assassin fortresses still existing in the world. Just to see the reaction of the North American and Chinese fortresses would be awesome. Really, I don't get why they closed themselves off so tightly, because they severely limited their gene pool, which is likely one of the reasons they want Cain and Daniel so much. Fresh Assassin genes. Anyway, I'd bet Cain and Daniel are going to crack their fortress wide open. If only because Daniel is likely to be anxious to find the other children and Cain'll probably do whatever he can to make it happen. Which means starting with reaching out to other fortresses and searching. I can't wait to see Cain and Tiamat butting heads over the Assassins and Daniel! Xazz, Pro Human is so much fun to read and try to figure out what you're doing with your characters. Thank you so much for this and Flocking Movement and Hell is Empty! You rock! |
Guest chapter 27 . 12/22/2016 Xazz, your chapter just broke my heart. Poor Diyari. The damage the Utarians (was that the term you used for the people of Utah? Can’t quite remember.) did to Diyari was far greater on the inside than on the outside. The outside has replacement parts and is stitched together. The damage they did on the inside of Diyari, to his psyche, to his sense of wellbeing, to his personal identity, was far deeper and longer lasting. When Diyari began questioning if he was still human, I wanted to cry for him. The essence of humanity is our love and altruism towards each other. I actually gleaned some of this from what Lilith said to Desmond in your Flocking Movement saga. She said that humans take care of each other, they love each other, they protect each other. Wasn’t it Confusius who said, “if you want to make a stand, help others to stand.” That is the core of what is going on here. Diyari had part of his body ripped away from him, and now he needs help to realize he’s still DIYARI. His mind and soul are intact. It’s not his body that makes him who he is. He’d be badly hurt to hear anyone call him a cyborg and Jari would probably tear them apart, but Diyari is more human than anyone. His need to belong, to Jari, to his baby, to Alpha, to humanity, is what everyone strives for. To be loved and accepted for who he is. Which Jari and Alpha do without question. Love is the most human emotion and without it life is negative, empty, worthless. Jari’s love and support will hopefully help Diyari get past this, and walk again. Not just on his prosthetic foot, but walk through life again. Your whole chapter was a beautiful examination of the human condition, Xazz. Altair’s love for Rauf, the need to protect him when he was drunk. Rauf’s drunken wonder that Altair loves him regardless of how silly he becomes. Altair’s love for his unborn child; his ability to love this child and visit it and have hopes for his kid to the point that he is making peace with the child’s other father to ensure the child doesn’t feel unwanted. You even pointed out how orphaned children are more likely to suffer from lack of self-esteem and don’t adjust as well to life and love when the chance comes their way. Which is partly why I’m so glad Rauf and Altair have accepted Desmond into their little family; love, discipline, and occasionally punishments for misbehaviour are all proof to a child that someone sees him, someone care enough to want them to become more, to feel safe and secure and loved. How will knowing Maria didn’t want him affect Darim in the long run? He may actually struggle more than Desmond. All this being said, you’ve got me worried for Diyari, Xazz. Part of the human condition, aside from love, is mortality. When Jari heard only silence in his dream, you gave me a very bad feeling of dread. That and your hints about the sad event to come make me want to freeze time right here in Pro Human to make sure Diyari stays safe and alive and well. Xazz, is Diyari going to be killed, likely on some mission with Alpha? Because that would just about destroy Jari. I can see him dying a short time after Jari, either because he becomes reckless on missions, or because he does something himself. And their baby would be an orphan, forced to grow up with the knowledge that his/her one surviving parent didn’t love them enough to stay. Sort of like Cain’s dad in Australia, except he waited until Cain grew up and could care for himself before choosing to join his wife elsewhere. Wow, Xazz, you really know how to take love and twist every last drop of pain and tears out of it. Build up our hopes that everything will finally work out for Jari and Diyari, just to rip our heart out. Thank you for your hard work on Pro Human, Xazz. |
lady-yuna7 chapter 26 . 10/24/2016 I've got a strong feeling the baby name is gonna be Kamal. He is legit the only person with strong links with Altair and Malik who is yet to be mentioned in this story. Kamel is so adorable too! |
