asgeorge602603 chapter 70 . 8/21/2019 The story was great. Loved it. |
Crankyparrot chapter 70 . 8/16/2019 This was such a ride. It was definitely your first story, it showed, and there just didn't seem to be as much substance or background that would've made it truly AMAZING, but the plot itself, the story kept me going and I enjoyed it so, so much. I so enjoy this type of pokemon story, similar to Pedestal or Regret. I loved this story and it gripped me for days. Thank you for choosing to write :D |
Guest chapter 70 . 7/6/2018 No Items, No Abilities, No Legendaries... Lack of lore from the Pokemon Universe, just Pokemon and geography. Rushed character development and way too fast paced. All in all, it's still better that the garbage that is digital skitty's pedestal. |
Leftwich08 chapter 2 . 8/14/2017 I would really like to know what the main character looks like... |
Shin'tet chapter 50 . 4/21/2016 Wow. Really? Why leave a guy like Hawkes alive to, hopefully, burn alive, yet efficiently and ruthlessly kill off his men? My respect for Linus just dropped a degree. Hope he has fun with whatever Hawkes does next time, because the likelihood of him dying is nearly 50/50 when you've got pokemon capable of teleportation, healing, and other super-powered bullshit. Leaving an enemy like Hawkes alive was the stupidest thing Linus has done. |
DeathTheDude chapter 9 . 1/22/2016 Dude this PokeFic is brutal...Cool |
MasterShaper chapter 70 . 1/28/2015 So, this might be a long review. I tend to ramble, and I haven't decided how exactly I'm going to go about the review. First off, the grammar's good, and the typos were not overwhelming, so that's a definite plus. The pacing of the story matched the events shown, and I overall got the impression of a competently-written story. However, just from a reader's viewpoint, I saw a heavy resemblance to Digital-Skitty's 'Pedestal' and Crukix's 'Regret' in this story. It was an enjoyable balance between the more carefree tone of the former and the - some would say excessively, myself included - darker approach Crukix took with the latter. So, moving on to the tempo! A little fast-paced for a my liking, although this is mere personal opinion, and my own writing has often been reviewed as being very slow to build up on the plot. There was a minor feeling that the battles felt a little draggy, but this could have been relative perception on my part - overall fast flow of the story made the battle scenes appear longer, et al. Just a question of personal taste, but I did feel it might be worthwhile to mention, since perhaps a little exposition scattered about might have added a little background to the story. But I digress. That being said, the up-tempo pace matches Linus' impulsive, somewhat reckless, and physically expressive nature. It makes sense that he would narrate a story at the same speed with which he acts. On his team, I do like that you used a variety of species with their own physical and mental quirks. Naja was not quite the usual boy-and-his-monster fare, but he served well enough in his capacity as the starter. Ares fit his species' fast-moving nature, and the gardevoir - too sleepy to find her name at present - was deftly handled. Skyler was not quite as intimidating as I'd expected, and I frankly saw a lot of Ike from 'Pedestal' in him, not that it is a bad thing. River was honestly not much of a weighty addition, in my humble opinion, since Linus seems more enamored by her beauty and battle skills than her individuality. Again, this could be put down to his personality, so it's not a big deal. Linus himself, however, is what kept me reading from page one to the last word within a six hour period (yes, I do read fast, and am not averse to slacking at the office). He generally seems apathetic to the world around him, although this could perhaps be attributed to his nature as mentioned previously. And the fact that he doesn't really know what he wants? Something I admire in a character, provided they are well-written. Having said those bits, my last thoughts for now would be that this work heavily - in my personal opinion, and with all due respect - resembles 'Pedestal' and 'Regret' to the point that I cannot help but draw parallels as I read it. Nonetheless, it was well-written enough for me, although I do hope you' forgive me if I don't end up re-reading it quite as enthusiastically as those two. I will admit, though, that sometimes my opinion and enjoyment of written works changes with time, and suffice to say, I will be bookmarking this one for future re-reading, maybe twice or thrice. Till next time, MS |
