Yaaaaay! this is awesome! :)
Meus Obsequium chapter 1 . 1/12/2014
Steve remembers how shocked Loki was to have anyone seek him out. - Right in the feels, every time.
It's kinda cute how this Loki is so socially inept. For someone so intelligent, he genuinely has no clue. It's so bittersweet to watch him try to open himself to Steve when clearly, he's never had someone that he could open himself to before. Can you imagine how lonely he must feel when he has to tear down a building to catch someone's attention?
Maia2 chapter 1 . 7/17/2013
Aww, Loki's killing me here, you know? I can't believe he went to all that trouble just to get a chance to talk to Steve. Or I guess to sit and stare at Steve. And poor thing really doesn't know how to do things half-way, just like Thor. They *are* gods after all, huh? And he picked the one thing that gets Cap on edge.
And speaking of, so proud of Cap. How he kept his calm, how he told Loki what he was thinking. How he immediately realized what was going on and knew exactly how to talk to Loki.
And a date by text, huh?
Lovely.

Wonderful
Artificial Life Creator chapter 1 . 6/22/2013
I bet Steve feels a gajillion times better after that rant. I'm sure Loki did.

O yea, and after the battle, when everyone's back at the tower, Peter discovers his webslingers now shoot green glitter (It's a 'thank you' from Loki for giving him reason to "roll into town"). See, Peter stays in the tower for a 24hour watch observation period so if he wakes up to find his muscles have seized up, there're people strong enough to carry him to physio.

Awww, so FREAKIN' cute. No, seriously, you actually make Loki cute, and Steve, and the whole relationship between them. It's incredibly sweet, but again, incredibly emotionally strong and affecting. Your handle on these characters is just second to none, imo.

I found the concept of this to be awesome, how Loki goes about spending time with Steve, and how it shows how just truly almost out of the loop Loki is socially. Steve makes a great and really fascinating observation here, that, despite his brilliance with words and manipulation, Loki really doesn't know how to just TALK to people, or understand what socially acceptable or normal behavior is. Again, there's that sense that Loki is just extremely lost and fails to ever, really fit in. Loki thought that creating giant ice dinosaurs and getting Steve trapped under a collapsed building was a perfectly reasonable way to get some alone time with him, and you could see that, to Loki, he well and truly didn't find anything wrong with the scenario. It's funny, because there's a strange sort of innocence to Loki which you bring out so well, underneath all of that cutting, precise sophistication and intellect.

You always break my heart with your stories, and it happened again when Steve was going through Loki's SHIELD file, and recognized that Loki's never, really ever worked with the other villains, while all of them work constantly with each other, and then Steve remembering Loki's surprise that anyone would have even thought to seek him out. Again, what you highlight so well here is just how alone Loki is, and it's truly, truly heartbreaking. He doesn't even have supervillain buddies. And again, of course, it throws into even better context Loki's reaction when Steve visited him on his birthday and gave him the cake. How that overwhelmed Loki.

I just loved the entire scene between them though when they were underneath the rubble, and Loki's completely nonchalant, cool demeanor, and Steve's subsequent irritation and disbelief at it, because Loki just doesn't get how the whole thing is so inappropriate. I can totally just picture the two of them like that, Loki sitting across from Steve, cross legged, totally casual, and Steve sitting across from him, all indignant and pissed off.

It's totally sad though when Steve snaps at Loki, and you can see Loki wasn't expecting it at all, and doesn't understand why, and how his reaction is to just leave. You see here how even when Loki is trying to do the right thing, how it must feel to him like he always gets it wrong, and you can see from that how it's no doubt worked away at his self-esteem and self-regard. The way he tenses up and won't look at Steve, you get the feeling that Loki must think of himself as a screw up and a loser, and so when faced with that, he runs away. It's just totally sad.

It's great how Steve quickly realizes his own mistake though, and how quickly he apologizes, and coaxes Loki back in to staying. Steve is just the sort of person Loki needs. Cool and patient and understanding. It's what makes their friendship totally plausible, because if there's anything Loki needs, it's just someone to listen to and acknowledge him.

And beautiful ending, with Loki texting Steve and giving such a simple, three word request to "hang out", haha. Steve's urgency to answer when he finally realizes its from Loki was adorable. He really cares about Loki, and you can see how he understands too how delicate and fragile Loki actually is through the haste with which he needs to then respond, knowing that if he ignores Loki, Loki would no doubt conclude Steve wants nothing to do with him. That's of course how messed up Loki's self-esteem is. So that was really sweet, and I love the way you progress the relationship between them, and build it so gradually and realistically.

I'm off to read your others in this series! Absolutely love it!

AWWWWWW! Loki is the cutest, most adorable person in the world, though he'd probably resent to being called person, ahem, god of mischief. I love this story!
eugene chapter 1 . 9/7/2012
oh, you're continuing this! I really loved previous one and also this one's slow but steady progress
Silvanesti chapter 1 . 9/5/2012
Well written, as always. It can stand alone but not as well as "June the 21st" does, and feels more like a part of a whole. I like their awkward attempt at friendship, it is well portrayed and developing in such a sweet way.
