Eli is really a jerk! I am enjoying the story... I love Tiva!

You've done such a good job in this story, capturing the push and pull of loyalties in adoption, the desire for both mothers at once, the ease with which reunion can overwhelm both parties, the attempts by EVERYONE to tread lightly. As an adoptee with an adoptee husband, and having been through the reunion process as much as was possible, with friends who've placed their infants, friends who have adopted or are adopting, friends who are adopted...you did a great job with this aspect of the story. I love Sarah, and the uneasy peace and yet complete love that Chana, Sarah, and Ziva have amongst them. And 12 is a *difficult* age for reunion...and you did that so well.

I can tell you that this story is sweet and loving and precious, but I can also tell you that you raise really interesting questions about identity, family, purpose, and connection. You've taken something ugly and sad and turned it into a very real thing with very real characters who speak to me as a reader and writer. YOU have done that. YOU have created something very beautiful in doing that. Brava. I am kvelling.

I just...can't. I had to read and re-read this chapter and I still can't decide how I feel about it. It's loving and sweet but also deeply, deeply melancholy. I am unbearably curious, though-in what way(s) does Sarah remind Gibbs of Ziva? I want to know. I want to get a better picture of their relationship from the outside.

I feel so conflicted for everyone here; for Ziva for being robbed, for Chana for feeling jealous, for Sarah for feeling so torn between both identities. I don't feel, necessarily, that Tony and Chana were wrong, but I can understand how Ziva felt utterly betrayed. AGAIN.

Sidebar: I had to read this once, close the laptop, then come back to it. It's so complex and layered that I needed time to process. Truly the mark of a great writer.
