In any case, I hadn't read this one before, and wanted to take the time to tell you how much I liked it. Your Mycroft is completely convincing to me. I love the thought that John isn't the first potential flatmate he's screened; the genuine admiration and concern for a fine soldier, even apart from his potential as a companion for Mycroft's brother; and the details of *how* he manages his constant surveillance-the CCTV screen going while he focuses on other work, the multiple windows open, the skilled manipulation of camera angles, like a grown-up boy playing a familiar video game. . . . My own sense is that John *does* have some form of PTSD, and Mycroft dismisses it a little too easily-but then, he would, wouldn't he? I know you posted this some time ago, but I hope it's not too late to add another voice saying, "Thank you"! |
