I love that you write realistic injuries and sickness. For obvious reasons, it would be hard for them to be as beaten up as they should be in the actual show because we don't get the internal monologue about pounding heads and rising fevers.

omg you can never go wrong with spooky, crying, not-there little kids! that's just... creepy no matter where you put them, but putting them on a ship where YOU CAN NOT GET AWAY FROM THEM!? this fic gave me nightmares! and from a painting!? just... *shudders*

I'm glad the poor boys didn't have to suffer for days in a lifeboat. Tulpas are the strangest thing they have hunted, this was a fun story.
