I smiled when Gwaine knocked Merlin out and Elaine and Caradoc gaped at him.

Just as good of a chapter. Though I imagine Morgana will either live through this with Mordred's help or Morgana's death will drive Mordred even further from Emrys and Arthur and into the path of destiny.

I'll be interested in your reasoning for why the dark blade effects (affects? i don't know lol) Merlin differently from how it affected/effected Galahad. Probably because Merlin has magic and Galahad doesn't, I assume.

I loved the confrontation between Gwaine and Lot.

I thought Merlin's line about Morgana sleeping with Lot was really out of character but his bit about how Morgana doesn't truly want freedom of magic, she just wants power, was very accurate.

I liked that Galahad reminded Gwaine that Elaine isn't some child.

I'd been kind of unhappy with Gwaine's characterization so far but I really enjoyed him in this chapter, and also his interactions with Merlin.

Merlin and Gaius's interactions are true to form and heartbreakingly good. Kudos.

I like the part you included about how a small part of Morgana respects Merlin's loyalty but he has to be removed.

I really like the way you characterize Leon.

I also love the way you wrote Merlin's sighting of Morgana. I could feel the anxiety and the tension through your writing.

A little surprised at how Merlin is treating Gwaine but it's not a fic dealbreaker.

Still love the way Merlin and Arthur are written, and also Gwen.

I like the undercurrent of tension the way we're questioning when the pin will drop for Camelot as a whole- like when an attack will come, if one will come.

I feel like Gwaine's character isn't really to be the sort of man who presses in his advances even after a rejection- we remember when we met him, he was flirting with Guinevere, and when he realized Gwen wasn't interested, he backed off, and she even commented that she liked that he knew when to give up. Even if Gwaine would continue to pursue Elaine because he knows in his heart of hearts that she likes him back, he definitely would not physically grab her like that.
Also I kind of feel like Merlin would stay Arthur's manservant just to be closer to him, but that's a point of characterization I'm much more willing to be fluid about.

Even given these two things I love this fic and the previous one. I love the way you wrote your OCs complex and interesting without having them take over the plot. I like Arthur's struggle with what he should do with the laws of Camelot- he has realistic concerns. I also like that Merlin's disappointment in Arthur is understandable, and that he has a little bit of internal struggle with understanding why Arthur is thinking the way that he is while also having his own valid feelings of anger and disappointment.
