Agree! Mr. Pancks was a misunderstood sweetheart! I loved seeing all of the characters work together to see Rigaud put away. Very cool.

A marvelous "what if" twist. So good in many ways. Loved how Pancks and Amy got a chance in the spotlight. :)

A marvellous twist on this scene! You're right, Rigaud being humiliated and arrested is way, way better than him being buried by a miraculously collapsing house. And I also completely agree about Amy and Pancks, those two deserve the spotlight.
'Her voice was as quiet and ladylike as ever, but underneath, he detected a note of steel that would have done honor to Mrs. Clennam herself.' An Amy/Rigaud standoff was just what the show needed, and you did a great job portraying Amy, the way she's courageous when she needs to be even though it's really pretty worried and scared.
You also wrote the different characters' voices really well; Cavaleto's "Try and eat me now, eh?", Pancks' "That's it, Mr. What's-your-name,", Flintwinch's "Coincidence? I think not.", Rigaud being an attention-seeker - it was perfectly easy imagining the characters acting like that, which gave the story a very realistic touch. And of course, the ending was completely adorable, Arthur and his stepmother having talked things through is a lovely image.
Just one thing, you once spelled dilemma dilemna (sorry about nitpicking :P). Thanks for the great read!
