I feel so back for Rick with Alexis dead. That was so tragic! :( I'm glad the people responsible were brought to justice and I really wanted to smack Johanna Beckett for pretending to be dead! But I do like how Kate decided to take up writing! That was nice! Great fic overall!

You forgot to include Alexis' name in the list of charges against Bracken. After all, she was killed as part of his machinations, no?

Now THAT is a great departure from canon! Nice job, Sydney!

Definitely saved us from having to see Rick fire repeatedly into Tyson's chest instead of his head when he should have known he was wearing body armor.

I realize that this story is years old, but I'm just now finding it. I like it a lot, even if every time you bring up Alexis' past is puts tears in my eyes. The inclusion of characters and dialog from other shows and movies is also fun (loved having Nathan Fillion and Jennifer Beals in the movie).

One small issue I have with this chapter though: it really makes no sense to convert a 9mm Beretta to a .40 caliber. I mean, why? Unless it's a newer model, it wouldn't work anyway without some major retooling (I know you said she had a friend do that), and if she just wanted the larger caliber, Beretta already makes a .40 model. I can't see her being that in love with the grip to make all that work worth it, and really that's what she would keep from the old weapon, and even then it would have to be modified to hold the larger magazine. Just MHO.
