This is the greatest story I've read in a long time. I love your characterizations, the conflict, and I love I van's protectiveness of Alfred. Will Alfred forgive him? Will they fall in love? Will CanUK get a sweet scene? I don't know, but I really would love to find out. Please, try to update this if you can, it is an amazing story and I hope you can continue it!

Ai, my heart, it can't take a lot more. This story is such a good one, it's a little bit sad there isn't more to it. BUT you can always update. I mean, there's no hurry, but it's just this story is so fantastic that reading it seems to make my heart soar. No joking.

The deal makes me unhappy, despite my happiness for it at first. Ai, the fact this story can do that makes it epic!

Honestly, I wasn't sure if I'd read this story, since it's summary was so...unusual (aka I wasn't sure how you'd make a story about a scarecrow interesting). Well, I'm glad I read this story and that you proved me wrong. I love darker fantasies, and this story has such a Brother Grimm fairytale atmosphere.

One of the reasons why this story works so well for me is that you gave Ivan such a strong voice in the writing. He views humanity from the outside, never having learned from others, and you do a wonderful job of showing how he gleans pieces of information over the years. He has a lot of good in him, but he's always had darker thoughts, which I think Winter and his "seven children" only encouraged.

On that note, I'm taking a not so large leap in logic and guessing that Winter's seven children are the seven deadly sins. If so, I like how you reference them. It was a good allusion, and made Winter all the more mysterious because you can guess he's a wicked creature without him spilling all his secrets.

And in reference to your Author's Note in chapter 6, I too wondered how Ivan was able to use his flimsy straw arms and *kill a wolf*. It would be like killing someone in a pillow fight. And then I took a step further back, and told myself to shut up, since if magic can give a scarecrow movement, it can probably give him super strength too. Plus, it was such an awesome scene, imagining Ivan crashing through the woods and ripping apart a pack of wolves. No wonder Alfred ran!

While I am more invested in some of your other works (cough*dementedbrotherArthurstory*cough), I do hope to see an update on this story too. It's caught my attention.

I'm more concerned as to why scarecrow!Ivan inexplicably knows Russian. Is it because of Kat? WAIT, if Kat's soul embodies Ivan, and if Kat is Ukrainian, does that mean Ivan is Ukrainian?

BUT WAIT! If Kat's soul is what makes up Ivan, that means Ivan is essentially another bit of Kat right? DOES THAT MAKE SCARECROW!IVAN/ALFIE INCEST?

BUT IF ALFRED THUS POURED SOME OF HIS SOUL INTO IVAN, DOES THAT MAKE IT SELF-CEST AKA MASTURBATION? *flails about wildly* HOW DO WE KNOW THESE THINGS?

It doesn't even matter that he's an inanimate object to begin with, thus hardly deserving of said soul to begin with. *tears up* Poor Ivan.

Y'know, now that I reflect on it, scarecrows have always been really sad creatures. I never really went in depth as to why. Makes more sense now, especially after reading this beautiful tale.
