Reviews for Woman, Wife, Mother, Friend
snooky-9093 chapter 1 . 1/15/2013
A beautiful set of vignettes. There is no right or wrong in describing the wives of these men; after all they are all in our imaginations. I truly loved Evelyn. Your description made me smile. what is odd...and this might or might not have been an accident, are the names of their boys. Bobby and Jack. My first thought on seeing these names was JFK and Bobby Kennedy.

St PA chapter 1 . 8/8/2012
Thank you for the story about the wonen. As you describe them, they seem to be good matches for the men. I like and agree with your explanation about Colonel Hogan - I also couldn't see him with a family. And I also like the fact he is an honorary uncle to the kids who are living in Europe and the US. Had to laugh that they never let him forget about them. After all these years, they are still a tight-knit group.
hogan macgyver chapter 1 . 7/29/2012
Such a cute piece, or rather pieces since there are four different women. Not Mary Sue at all. In such a few words you managed to really bring each of them to life and give lots of little snippets. I can see Evelyn casing Newkirk around with a skillet and I got a nice chuckle out of it. Diane is a perfect balance to Kinch. Anne and Carter are adorable together! I think the part with Anne and LeBeau is my favorite, though. There is just something there... Sad that there isn't a wife for Hogan, but I think it worked out how you wrote it. Great job! :)
emeraldarrows chapter 1 . 7/22/2012
This is beautiful! I love the image you presented of each of the women - unique but equally as important. LeBeau's was especially good. (:
Marie1964 chapter 1 . 7/19/2012
A well-written follow-up to your original story. (Though, I always imagined Hogan getting together with Tiger after the war.) The characters don't seem Mary Sue at all-each one seems true to the circumstances of how they were raised/survived the war.
Sgt. Moffitt chapter 1 . 7/19/2012
I love the way you envision the Heroes' future mates...each one is unique, yet they all share the traits of resilience and a fierce loyalty to those they love. Not perfect human beings, any of them, and some of their experiences are heartbreaking, but I'd be proud to call any of them my friend.

But poor Hogan! He's missing so much...
dust on the wind chapter 1 . 7/19/2012
Such a nice little set of vignettes - each woman seems a fitting life partner for her Hero, and you define them so well in so few words.

Character names are sometimes impossible to change, once they've got attached, but the ones you've used fit extremely well.

Good work

Canadian Hogan's Fan chapter 1 . 7/19/2012
Well, I know what you mean about Mary Sue concerns. I frequently have the same with my own writing. But you have no need to worry. Each lady is wonderfully flushed out and realistic considering their backgrounds. I had to smile over June's name (I can almost see the real June Carter being married to Andrew) and Evelyn's urge to chase her hubby with a skillet. I think Diane is a perfect match for Kinch, as their personalities are opposite but compliment each other. Anne is well done too.

I must say, I'm jealous of how you can draw such great pictures to go with your stories. I wish I could do that. :)
konarciq chapter 1 . 7/19/2012
I admit I'm not really sure *what* to say about this. It's nice, it's well written, with four ladies nicely fleshed out in but a few paragraphs, and no Marysueishness of which you were a little afraid.

Yet it fails to move me in any way, and the only reason I can think of is that your views of future wives for them are so profoundly different in most cases (not all though) than what I had conjured up myself for the camp-out story, that perhaps it's like being thrown into a an alternate universe: where they married someone else entirely than they did in *my* (and therefore *my canon*) universe.

So I don't really know what to think of this. Or maybe I shouldn't review it at all under these circumstances, where it's quite possible that I'm unable to look at the introduced characters with an open mind.

If this doesn't make any sense to you, feel free to ignore these comments. I'm not even sure it makes sense to me...
jodm chapter 1 . 7/18/2012
Great word-pictures! thanks for a nice series of snapshots.
Guest chapter 1 . 7/18/2012
Nice set of portraits of the wives, with each one equally suited to her husband.
newkathy97 chapter 1 . 7/18/2012
This was adorable! Their wives' personalities perfectly match each Hero.

My favourite was Evelyn. She seemed like exactly the type of girl Peter would lose his heart to- someone who could keep up with him. And your description of their relationship: lovers, best friends, accomplices, was beautiful.
