Guest chapter 1 . 7/19/2019 Good |
jack63kids chapter 1 . 9/18/2013 Mycroft is nothing if not meticulous - as you describe prefectly. I don't think that he likes surprises, but then I don't think that he was surprised at John's steady hand. He was showing John, not himself, something about John in that scene. Though I do think he was surprised at John's demeanour generally. Beautifully written and good use of scripted words. I always look forward to reading any of your fics. ;-D |
librarywitch chapter 1 . 8/20/2013 Yep he can be taught. You are so good at this. |
TorchwoodPride chapter 1 . 8/12/2013 :-D And another big smiley hits yor reviw cycle. Sorry to be so illitarate. But I really enjoy your stories. |
CosmicEssence chapter 1 . 4/23/2013 Admitted the layers what both actors manage in the sherlock series are astounding...the scene right after the cabbies been shot was probably the selling point for me so I get where this is coming from, unfortunately I dont really get whats been written. The whole pov here as left me rather confused as to the point you tried to have Mycroft make? |
Vi-Violence chapter 1 . 1/8/2013 Nice work. |
JaneMartin906 chapter 1 . 12/30/2012 Mycroft is absolutely brilliant. Very well written, love it! |
1sunfun chapter 1 . 11/7/2012 Nice. |
Zuzanny chapter 1 . 10/15/2012 very nice. :) |
Kaelir of Lorien chapter 1 . 7/15/2012 Ah, this is a wonderful little snippet! Stories that do Mycroft justice are sometimes difficult to find, but I do believe this is one of them. The relationship between Mycroft and John is an odd one, to say the least; they're men with two very different characters (some similarities, of course), and yet they are most linked by that one thing they care about - Sherlock Holmes. You've done a wonderful job showing Mycroft going out of his way to discover who this doctor is, to ascertain exactly what it is that allows him to not only put up with Sherlock, but thrive on his company. My favourite line, I think, is this: "It was difficult to define - an endless source of frustration for an exacting man such as Mycroft Holmes..." This is so telling, really it is. Mycroft's thoughts are detailed, precise, orderly, always searching for perfection, and the fact that he does not know something in full would indeed be a source of great annoyance for him. Well-done, looking forward to that John-centric piece coming up! |
D4ncingD4wn chapter 1 . 7/14/2012 Wow. You read my mind! Brilliant! It was perfect and well-written! I agree with every word of it! |
The Bitter Kitten chapter 1 . 7/14/2012 I really enjoyed this. Mycroft is woefully underrepresented in Sherlock, and you do great justice both to him and John Watson. I'm a fan of Sherlock and John as an asexual/ heterosexual life partnership respectively (tv tropes. org if that makes no sense) and I like that Mycroft sees that they'd be a great fit (at a glance, no less!). If I had to give criticism, I think that you could situate readers a little faster. The beginning is great, but I'm wondering why you're telling me this for a few lines before we get to the fact that they're in ASiP's warehouse scene. Though that could be more my attention span than your writing. :P I think you could also vary your sentence structure a tad. You have a very solid, almost doomful way of announcing what's happening, which is great as a literary gut-punch, but as an entire fic it loses emphasis and becomes a bit tiresome to read. It's like everything being all caps, I guess. From this, though, I'm looking forward to your longer fic. Cheers! |
wrytingtyme chapter 1 . 7/14/2012 You know that warehouse interrogation is one of my favorite scenes in S1, perfectly played, and I love your take on Mycroft's perspective. |
Guest chapter 1 . 7/14/2012 How you ended it sort of reflects what Mycroft says just before the end of that very episode. _ Awesome. |
hjohn302 chapter 1 . 7/14/2012 That. Was. Amazing. Utterly brilliant. I love your word choices, and the idea that knowing John was just in the showing of his hand to Mycroft. I have watched that scene over and over as well, because I just love John and his reactions to Mycroft, and how Martin Freeman does such an amazing job of acting there - from his intrigue and getting into the car, to his reactions to Mycroft, to his immediate protection of Sherlock and not volunteering any information... there was so much there that was said, and what was unsaid. The minute changes of expression and posture are what I so love about this show. They say SO much without having to say it. Thank you for this story, and I can't wait to see what you come up with for your longer one! Blessings |
