I loved this story and how it's easily something that could have happened. I say that because I could see the Ministry making an example of Hermione for using magic on her Muggle parents since it would be crime no matter what her motives were. I work in the legal field and I have seen that happen too many times to count.

I think you're a GENIUS for putting Marietta Edgecombe in this story as a prison guard - nobody EVER writes about her, and this is (sadly) a perfectly logical job for her to have ended up with.

Unless you were trying to keep it the tiniest bit less grim, I don't know why Dolohov wouldn't beat *and* rape Hermione - I expect it's something many Death Eaters did to their victims, and it's a way of humiliating and showing power over the victim. Unless, I suppose, he worried about a guard (who was unaware of Marietta's machinations) showing up before he could finish (or unless prison left Dolohov unable to commit rape, and he just lets Hermione be in terror of it).

I don't know how strong an effect a Dementor would have, for a short term prisoner (as opposed to Lifers). I wonder if you understated their effects, since Hermione seems reasonably normal through the second half of the story - yet overly miserable in the first half. You would think in the minimum security prisoner area, the prison might just have a Dementor wander through there once a day, or there would be just one Dementor for the whole area so its effects would be spread among many people.

I loved this idea for a plot. It does seem plausible that Hermione would be punished for Obliviating her parents. Personally, I don't mind a depressing story or dark themes. In fact, if you ever did a rewrite on this, it could certainly go much darker. But it was still great to have Severus become a light in her dark world. And throwing Marietta in there as the enemy was brilliant!

Overall, I really liked this story. There were a few spelling/grammatical errors and the epilogue was a little OOC for my taste, but other than those things, everything else was beautifully written. Great job, especially with little ones at home... I feel your pain :-)

Well-she did mind-rape her parents without their permission, sold their practice, relocated them, and otherwise treated them like helpless Muggles with no rights. Not surprised that she still has no regrets and apparently did not learn anything from her imprisonment except that she is still convinced she was right.

But I am glad that she's out...here's hoping she doesn't ruin any more lives (cough Marietta Edgecombe cough cough).

And I hope that Snape makes it all right, too-he's been through a great deal more than she has.

Oh, dear. Snape is still brainwashed that he deserves nothing for all his valor. Dumbledore was *good* at what he did, obviously, and clearly never expected Snape to survive the war (for the Greater Good, of course).

I'm jut glad that Hermione is on his side. Someone needs to be.
